Depression just fogs your conscience and stops you from discerning what's actually going on in your life, that's really the point of medication, it's meant to treat the symptoms, but a lot of the times it comes with side effects. Therapy is meant to work out through your issues.
People blame psychiatry and while it is flawed, there's not a lot a singular doctor can really do to improve your life.
Medication didn't work for me, and I did sadly resort to self-medication which helped but ruins your health on a timespan much shorter than SSRIs do. Just focus on doing healthy things consistently, but I don't want to write wordswordswords so I'll stop it here
