These are valid criticisms; we can't rely solely on drama and shitflinging to keep the website alive. Goot can be a funny gegbvll when he's throwing a tantrum, but he's just one guy, and the jokes themselves are like beating a dead horse, and we're never getting another Jimbo or Terry, much less a dynamic duo again.
And we do need to actually distinguish ourselves a bit more and give people a reason to join if they were previously unfamiliar with the website, because from the outside looking in, it just looks like a Discord server full of the same namefags who have over 10k+ posts and just meander about SNCA. Looking at it from that perspective, I wouldn't want to sign up either if I were in their shoes.
Other than having a user base with a mostly clean record who can hold their own in a discussion without endless shitposting, what else do we offer?
You're right about events. I can't remember the last time we had an event; perhaps we should start suggesting ideas. I don't think we need to do another banner contest as of right now, but a while back there was a contest to produce OC that included Shrooma and another character; maybe we could have another one of those? I'm not sure.
The point about OC and users not being bothered to make anything is the same point, but nevertheless, you're right. I'm guilty of that too; I rarely draw anything for the site, and the last time I ever made banners was for the first banner contest we ever did when the forum launched. You and Idkchud have been doing the heavy lifting.
I understand Hillel provided a booru for the Shroom, which could also potentially incentivise OC if people know their work is getting archived, but I'd rather not have the guy who posted Touhou futa to his personal YouTube page on this website. And most of this is personal gripes and bickering.
I don't like him either, nor trust him. Despite being a 100% certified janny, he couldn't even be bothered to moderate his own Discord server that probably only has a dozen people in it. TBD.
