When does something Ironic start to became Սոіrоոіc?
And what do you consider safe edgy and REAL edgy?
A good portion of the younger generation don't believe in humour that is socially appropriate but humour that is "morally correct". Essentially, the idea of punching up versus punching down.
Brian Thompson's murder and Charlie Kirk's assassination are safe edgy, as they are something people feel okay in joking about, as it is "punching up". But Renée Nicole Good's killing and George Droyd are considered offensive, as it affected people of a minority status; therefore, it's "punching down".
Same with the Titan. Now, that was plain stupidity. Now, Stockton Rush deserved it because he was a cheap bastard who didn't care about taking the proper precautions, even when everybody else was shouting at him not to do it, but everybody else on that vessel, especially that man's son, did not deserve it, and yet I've seen people try to justify making light of a horrific situation because it happened to people with more wealth than them. I've even seen people disregard that kid because of his father being rich. I think it's absurd.
These people only care about wealth because they aren't rich; they're the kind who would be so much worse if they had it, it's jealousy.
But also, they don't have any real morals that they're consistent about. They're just robots who think whatever is currently popular, not on their own terms.
Even 9/11, in less than 25 years, became an online punchline. Think what you want about its implications, whether it's a psyop, whether it was in vain or whether it ultimately meant nothing.
But remember that people died. Not just those in the planes or the towers, but people at ground zero; the firefighters, some died years later from respiratory diseases and cancers caused by inhaling the dust, smoke and debris; countless families were affected, and it really shook America when it happened. And this wasn't something that happened a hundred years ago like the Titanic.
I'm at the point where I wouldn't be surprised if Sandy Hook jokes started garnering attraction within the next couple of years. These people don't have a line they won't cross and again, don't consider what is or isn't socially appropriate.
