I bought Left 4 Dead as a Christmas gift for my dad the year it came out.
We did presents on Christmas eve, late at night after my mom and brothers got home from our aunt's house.

I remember me and my older brother doing everything we could to get our younger brother to go to sleep so we could play.
Next year, me and my older brother got to stay home from school one day, but my little brother couldn't, so we sat with blankets in front of us hiding our remotes underneath and told him we were watching a movie.

Left 4 Dead 2 was probably the most hyped I had ever been for a game's release. New Vegas is second place, as I had been playing fallout 3 since it came out.

Also, I didn't actually "play" fallout 3 until I was 15. I can't remember how, but I knew to go to Megaton right after leaving the vault, and I knew rivet city and tenpenny tower, but I pretty much just went around saving the game and going on a rampage.
When I finally did play the story, I got hard-locked in Jefferson memorial after clearing out the mutants.

Also, The Pitt was the first DLC I bought for any game, purely because I was a steelers fan for some reason.
I got stuck there, too, because I stood over the vent above the arena soaking up rads, and I didn't realize you could remove all rads in the waiting room, so I went into the last arena fight dozens of times just trying to win before i died from rad poisoning, but I never could. This was when I was 9, and I stopped playing the game entirely until I picked it up again at 15
