I can vouch for the JideTech VGA to HDMI converter as I'm currently using it to connect my Steam Deck to my HP Pavilion M50. Cheap adapters can potentially cause issues as the pin holding information regarding resolution capabilities freaks.

i got a cheap one, but i'll probably get a gooder one when i actually find a crt that isn't too many shekels. rn im just using an old samsung lcd. if the one i get works fine i can probably just wait for a better converter, since i also need to get a good composite to hdmi & i'll route that through the hdmi to vga for my vidyas.
