They don't need particularly great precision, but they need range to hit their target, speed to not be shot down and reliability to survive re entering the atmosphere. North korean nukes are most likely very unreliable and poorly maintained since they have little advanced industry. Range has never been proven, they have proven that they can be shot several thousand kilometers but there's no proof they can actually hit anything thousands of kilometers away. They are fast doe.

Being able to fly thousands of kilometers doesn't mean it can hit something thousands of kilometers away. Hitting 20km away from los angeles won't do that much damage to america but will lead to complete annihilation of north korea. North korea doesn't have enough nukes to overwhelm american air defences. They have around 50-100 nukes while overwhelming israeli defences required several hundred, perhaps up to 1000 missiles and drones. North korean nukes would also have to fly much further than iranian bombs where america would be able to shoot them down.

afaik thats the general idea behind the golden dome program, where nukes are shot down during launch phase or space entering (before MIRV detachment phase), its pretty complex but probably is the only way to shoot down nukes since you can't shoot them down in space and shooting them down when they're travelling at speeds of up to mach 10 in the atmosphere is pretty hard

American anti ballistic missiles generally aim to intercept during midcourse. Golden dome will aim to intercept during launch, but that system doesn't actually exist yet. Also intercepting nukes in space is absolutely possible.
