I mean it's true. Proprietary software like xenforo tends to add a lot of abstraction to it's functionality for the sake of simplicity for new users, but it also makes adding new features a pain in the ass.
We pretty much use xenforo because it is schlog legacy.

You cannot assume that. You will probably run into many issues with xenforo that you will have to fix.

I suggest finding alternatives, i can't recommend a single one but xenforo is very liard regarding customization or maintenance since that's basically how they try to get people to not pirate it.
