What the fuck is the point on selling external DVD/BD drives if most USB ports can supply enough fucking power to them. Even with external power plugged into the burner, smaller boards still struggle.

Another thing, why aren't Thinkpad docks forward compatible? I'd love to slip on an older UltraBase onto my x270 for the ports and built-in DVD-ROM drive, but that shit just won't work. I wonder if I could somehow craft my own framing under the laptop, slot my external DVD drive in, and neatly have the cable slide into one of the USB ports somehow.

That or I could just beef up my R50 with more RAM, although the CPU is so old it doesn't support PAE so I'd be wasting my time.
