Plumbing is absolutely not on it's way out
Indoors copper/brass fittings will rule but it's kind of a fase right now that properly functioning terracotta sewers ar being stripped out and replaced with PVC
I beleive it's already commonplace in belgium but water filter systems and decalcification systems will probably become more widespread outside of belgium
