You shouldn't be too skeptical of newly identified research; if we dismissed every new finding, then we wouldn't get anywhere. If it's false, then they should abrogate and discredit the aforementioned; if it's true, then it's an interesting find and could further future research.

You're right actually, that sounds extremely soy on second thought.>YOU NEED TO TRUST THE SCIENCE YOU HECKING CHUD! YOU CAN'T JUST QUESTION THINGS EXPERTS SAY!

The thing with the rise in autism diagnosis is that not only are very high functioning autist's like myself now getting diagnosed but so are the completely non functional autists who in past simply got diagnosed as dummyed/deficient. Also you dont seem to understand that autism is litterally "being socially inept" in combination with "sreal womang interests". The nerd stereotype likely comes from the fact that "nerds" are most often autistic. There is no over diagnosis of autism, only under diagnosis. I know some level 2 autists who are visibly autistic within 2 seconds and they are'nt diagnosed because it's often an expensive years long process. Autism does'nt make money, most autists are dependant on social security and dont contribute to society in anyway. Big pharma makes alot more cash selling amphetamines to kids with "adhd" than kids with autism. And I'm sorry, but the "Autism rates are rising, but that's largely about an expanded definition, more awareness and more screening" quote is total bullshit.
In 25 years the autism diagnosis rate went from 1 in 150 to 1 in 31. That's a nearly 80% increase in 25 years. That's insane. What is actually causing such a large increase in such a short amount of time?
How many of those people could've been misdiagnosed with autism when they have something else entirely? There are examples of people being diagnosed with ADD when they actually had autism all along; why not vice versa? What if they were diagnosed with autism when it was ADD all along? Especially since they've said that there's a comorbidity between the two disorders.
How many of those people are just socially inept with sreal womang or unusual interests? You could diagnose a whole group of D&D players with autism, but in actuality they're just a group of fuckin' nerds. For fuck's sake, that's why they think Bill Gates has autism. The nerd stereotype has all the stereotypical traits of the disorder, but I doubt almost all those who exhibit such personality quirks actually have it.
I think big pharma is pushing this shit for the same reason they're pushing the trans agenda; money. They want more money. Simple as.
Because that's what they are, unfortunately. How can you discern an unfortunate soul who is generally mentally disabled from somebody who is mentally disabled with autism? This is a bad example, but take those with cerebral palsy. I might be wrong, so please correct me if I am, but do they not mimic some stereotypically autistic behaviours seen in non-verbal severely autistic children and adults?but so are the completely non functional autists who in past simply got diagnosed as dummyed/deficient.
If I didn't understand that, why did I bother mentioning it? I acknowledge that those are symptoms of autism, but those could also be interpreted as behavioural & personality traits that you would see a stereotypical 'nerd' from a TV show, exhbit, that was my point. I just used nerds as an example. You could ascribe that to a bunch of other groups as well: artists, animators, some mathematicians, etc. The idea is that these people could just be anti-social, though there is always that possibility that it could be something deeper, which I concur with. Also you dont seem to understand that autism is litterally "being socially inept" in combination with "sreal womang interests".
Okay, that is a possibility. Researchers have looked into the possibility that a variety of well-known and influential individuals across history may have had undiagnosed ASD, according to them anyway. The nerd stereotype likely comes from the fact that "nerds" are most often autistic.
So what would you estimate the percentage of people who could have autism to be? Because the percentages seem to be skewed depending on the source. There is no over diagnosis of autism, only under diagnosis.
This is the point i agree with the most, it's hard to tell what kind of dummyation affects a dummy. The good thing is that most kinds of dummyation are easy to diagnose, a low muscle tone at birth combined with feeding problems points towards Prader–Willi syndrome, large ears and face along with a family history of males having learning deficiencies points towards fragile x syndrome. A non physical trait that helps points towards autism is that autism often does'nt show symptoms for the first 3 years while with other mental dummyations it starts at birth. Lastly in the case of cerebral palsy about 7% of people with cerebral palsy have autism so there is likely a link between the two.Because that's what they are, unfortunately. How can you discern an unfortunate soul who is generally mentally disabled from somebody who is mentally disabled with autism? This is a bad example, but take those with cerebral palsy. I might be wrong, so please correct me if I am, but do they not mimic some stereotypically autistic behaviours seen in non-verbal severely autistic children and adults?
At what point can you actually tell the difference? A low IQ is a low IQ.
You should spend more time with autistic people, i cant really put into words how incredibly socially inept autistic people are, it's not a personality thing it's straight up something missing in our brain. If I didn't understand that, why did I bother mentioning it? I acknowledge that those are symptoms of autism, but those could also be interpreted as behavioural & personality traits
I have no clue lol, i think maybe 1/30 but this is just a guess from what ive seen in college. I think we are living through a revolution of psychology, maybe in a decade or two we will have a real answer.so what would you estimate the percentage of people who could have autism to be? Because the percentages seem to be skewed depending on the source.
Yeah, i think they are talking about adding extra categories in the next edition of the DSM. First time i went to the autism social club i wanted to kill myself because i thought i was just too dummyed to realise i was as dummyed as all the dummys there that day.And another thing, do you think they should reinstate the diagnosis for Asperger's syndrome to distinguish those who think differently from those who are intellectually disabled? Because if I'm understanding it correctly, autism at its root is when people have different cognitive patterns from the rest of the population.
But I don't think it would be fair to the Newtons and the Einsteins of the world to get lumped in with some schmuck who has an obsession with BFDI or Mr Washee Washee from Family Guy.
