Digital Memopad

Welcome! The title of this thread may sound a bit familiar to some of you, that was on purpose.

To keep things simple: I've been accepted into college and will start classes in August. Along with that, I'm currently in the process of restructuring my life... whether it's simple things like eating better, or going on walks more... or the hard stuff, making real-life connections being an example. I don't plan to write in here regularly, just whenever something interesting happens.

Right now I'm in the process of trying to find a summer job just to fill the time & have some cash. I had applied to two jobs before earlier in the spring, but never heard back. Shit happens, gotta keep going. I'm really interested in getting into photography, a DSLR is definitely something I want to buy later on. Would like to combine it with farming just as a way to have something I can say I'm proud of myself for. The Nikon D200 seems to be my best bet, starting at about ~$150.

So i got my clock radio like I said earlier. I'm gonna sound like a fucking dummy but I didn't realize how cool radio is, free news/music and at least the commericals arent malicious and they cant track me.

I'm thinking about buying a pocket radio now, maybe one with access to NOAA frequencies and an MP3 player function. RadioShack still exists and they might have some.

I found my old Google Home Mini in a drawer. Forgot I even had it. Well, it's a nice Bluetooth speaker now. I am never going to enable that fucking microphone.

Thinking about trying to get a ham radio license. Well, the most basic one, but still. It's only $35 and the test isn't too hard from what I've seen.

what's the license for?
If I ever want to get into transmitting my own shortwave stuff in the future, basically. The "technician" class license is the bare minimum I'll need to do that. I know it's sort of a dying hobby but it's cool to me.
I have a radio capable of receiving shortwave coming in the mail but actually transmitting will probably be a lot more expensive.
