It's such an overrated shit and is only popular because of the fandom. The best way to make a "successful" game nowadays is to make the real womaniest shit that can milk out so many weird gay r34 fanfics or art. People spend more time obsessing over the game rather than playing it. That's the state of modern games anyways, the game itself is just there for merchandise or for a fandom

Undertale is fun
It's not deep and the community is double triple noob aids and it pretends to be more emotionally manipulative than it actually is, but whenever I play it I have fun

the Genocide route is a slog, you spend 3 hours running around trying to reach the encounter threshold to advance the "bad nono meanie bobeanie" route before you actually face an actual boss that isn't a 1 hit K.O., it's also a pain in the ass because it tries to pretend you're a horrible monster for killing all the wholesome chungus monsters who dindu nuffin even though it's a complete chore to actually go down the route.
