european weapons are cool but macahuitl goes hard, it's literally a bat covered in razors that turn it into a sword that also has blunt force
these are some replicas, albeit the accuracy to an actual macuahuitl varies.
the diamond shaped engravings in this pic are speculative and don't match mesoamerican motifs either, but the proportions of the weapons and the size and tight fit of the blades is more accurate to more codex depictions, with the bottom two and top macuahuitl being very authentic to those.
the replicas in this are also very authentic, with the lack of clear distinction between the shaft and handle being pretty common (though not universal) in codex depictions. the engravings are speculative, but they do match central mexican motifs and iconography.
and here are excerpts from codices of the macuahuitl:
here is an actual macuahuitl (one of 2 left(albeit it's heavily damaged and the handle is broken off)):
and here is another:
there was another, but it was burned down in a fire, and this one was two-handed as shown in picrel:
the reason why the macuahuitl is being held by samurai armor, next to an ottoman shield was because the museum managers didn't know what it was and of its origins, and so it was labeled as an exotic asian weapon.
