Where is this quote from?

Gnosticism will draw you in if you're the type of person who thinks the world/people are inherently le bad. I made the same mistake a few years ago, but reading Irenaeus, as was mentioned in this thread, made me recant my beliefs. Its major flaw, in my eyes, is how it entirely rejects the beauty of the physical world. It is all a part of God's creation and should be thought of as an emanation of the true God/Monad (to use the lingo), not the work of a demiurge. It also mostly flies in the face of Canon with the use of gnostic Gospels, if you value that kind of stuff.

Another thing is how it's been co-opted by redditors in the modern day. Anyone who calls himself a gnostic usually also believes in other dummyed things, like God in the OT and NT being different things, which is a big one. They're the same kind of people as Wiccans; they only believe in an alternative kind of religion to sound heckin cool and seem like they have deep hidden knowledge when all their religious beliefs comes from reddit or watching YouTube videos. I'll say that I do believe there is hidden knowledge of that religious sort, but this neognostic larp is nothing close to how you obtain it

There is no such religion as Gnosticism, even the "proto-typical" Gnostic myth (about how the demiurge did this and that and what not) was fabricated by modern scholars by lifting ideas found in diverse sources from completely different sects. It did not exist in that form in any singular ancient sect. The notions that were combined did exist, but the whole myth never existed.

Yeah I wouldn't refer to myself as a "gnostic" (from what I've read that would actually defeat the purpose of gnosis) I'm mostly drawn to the ideas that 1. there are malignant entities somewhere who larp as God ("demiurge" "archons" whathaveyou) 2. modern Christianity, evendoe true, is largely censored and doesn't give us the full story 3. the world is some kind of simulation that hopefully we're eventually going to ascend from (I can't say for sure but I think I've seen the "code" said "simulation" is programmed in).

Agree with you entirely on this point. Way I see it:
>God is the only force powerful enough to hold together complex realms/worlds like ours
>God is inherently good
>If good = God then it's safe to apply the law of polarity and assume evil = no God
>A world that was truly pure evil with no good in it whatsoever would dematerialize instantly with no God to facilitate it's existence
>Therefore the fact that we even exist in this world is proof that what we experience here is of value.

That's tvff
gospel of judas or something
>well actually he only betrayed his beloved friend because he was the only one that Jesus told told the truth to and he knew he had to and definitely didn't just sell the Messiah out for 30 silver pieces like a liar would

(I can't say for sure but I think I've seen the "code" said "simulation" is programmed in).
