If it is summer 2026 why is cat or jimbo or any other inactive users included, they don't even use the site anymore,
id take notes of the users active every now and then and only include users who have used the shroom in recent times

This is why competitions and weekly events should be implemented centered on OC, as to avoid both listed issues. Make it something to celebrate that can spread off-site - and to refer again to my SomethingAwful analogy - like Photoshop Fridays. Good posts mean nothing when they're amongst waining numbers. We need to reel like-minded people in with these events and good posts to keep them coming back. This secures perpetual lifeblood in the site, and once again, something to look at in all time-frames fondly. If we do this carefully, we can practically curate a userbase of "perfect fits" if you will.

since you mentioned it, it's my understanding that somethingawful was picky about how people should post and made an effort to keep people they didn't like off of the site. I'm not familiar with SA however, so I don't know the full extent or specifics of how that worked and whether or not that actually made the site any better, but I think it's interesting.

(modern rules, no clue what they used to be like.)
