General thread
Not much, Darryl. Chris was being a nuisance yesterday so I'm kinda ticked off at him. He needs to lay off the booze, don'tcha know?
Yeah, I hear ya. Chris can be a handful when he’s been drinking. Probably best to give him some space today and let him sleep it off. Hopefully he gets the message... Or not. That's okay too.

You boys and Chris again, huh? 😂 Seriously though, Don’s right. Chris oughta take it easy on the booze. Ain’t worth getting everybody worked up over it.

Well, while we’re on the subject of things that are a pain in the ass, I gotta get over to O’Reilly’s later. My car’s been making this rattling noise again, and I’m pretty sure it’s that heat shield, but I figured I’d replace the whole bracket while I’m at it. Guy at the parts counter says they got one in stock, so hopefully it’s the right one this time. Last time I went in there they gave me the wrong damn part and I didn’t notice till I had half the thing tore apart. Don’t know why they make these things so complicated. Anyway, I gotta crawl under that thing this afternoon, so that’ll be fun.

Can't post the pictures here though, I'll PM you on Facebook

Agreed.

Haha, sounds like you’ve got yourself another fun afternoon under that car. 😂 Hopefully they actually gave you the right part this time. Nothing worse than getting halfway into a repair and finding out the parts counter guy sent you home with the wrong damn thing.

And yeah, just PM me the pictures. I’ll take a look when you send ’em.

Nice to see you on here, btw

Man, I swear half the battle with working on these cars is just making sure you actually got the right damn part before you start tearing into it. I had the same thing happen last month; looked like the right piece in the box, but once I got underneath the car, nothing lined up.

That heat shield rattle will drive you nuts, though. Sounds like a bunch of loose silverware every time you hit a bump. Hopefully that bracket fixes it for good. What kind of car is it, Mark?

Fuck you. Like seriously, fuck you Don, it's not my fault I punched Sarah at yesterday's party. I was drunk.
I'm sorry pal, but I don't know who you are. I think we got our Chrises mixed up; we were talking about a mutual friend of ours named Christopher Andrew Weller. He's blonde, kinda hefty nowadays, and has funny lookin' glasses.

Hey Donny stop acting like you forgot what you and I were doing back in the old days. I know that you have a family now but no there is need to abandon your true self.

It’s my ’09 Silverado, Darryl. Nothing fancy, just an old workhorse that’s starting to let me know it ain’t getting any younger. The heat shield has been rattling for a while, mostly when I’m idling or taking off, and I finally got sick of listening to it.

I figured while I’ve got it apart I might as well replace the bracket and hardware instead of trying to cobble it back together again. Of course, that’s when I discovered the last part they sold me was wrong. Had the whole thing half torn apart before I caught it.

But other than that, the old Chevy’s been pretty good to me. Oil changes, brakes, tires, the usual stuff. I’m hoping to keep it going for a few more years before I have to bite the bullet and replace it.

Yeah, those old Silverados are pretty hard to kill if you stay on top of the maintenance. 😉 And I know exactly what you mean about fixing one thing and figuring, “Well, while I’m already in here…” Next thing you know, you’ve got half the truck apart and a pile of parts sitting on the garage floor.

Hopefully it’s just that heat shield and bracket and nothing more serious lurking underneath. And definitely check that new part against the old one before you start wrenching this time. I learned that lesson the expensive way. :ROFLMAO:
