Under the existing rules, deploying more than 12 members of the Defence Forces overseas requires approval from three sources:
- The Irish Government
- The Dáil
- The United Nations
The proposed legislation removes the requirement for UN approval. Defence Minister Helen McEntee and Taoiseach Micheál Martin argue that the current system gives permanent members of the UN Security Council — including Russia, China and the United States — the power to block Irish participation in peacekeeping missions.
The Government says removing this requirement would allow Ireland to make independent decisions about overseas deployments and preserve its long-standing peacekeeping role. It insists that Ireland’s military neutrality and commitment to international law will remain intact.
TL;DR:
Ireland is no longer neutral, and the men will be slaughtered in the name of Ukraine and Israel, whilst local immigrants can live lavishly. It's over.
