No.

Claus was not a “wokedummy.” That term is modern internet slang aimed at progressive identity politics, equity language, and social-justice activism. Nazism was the opposite of that in almost every core respect.

What Nazism actually was​

• Explicit, biological racism and a rigid racial hierarchy with “Aryans” at the top and Jews, Slavs, Roma, and others targeted for exclusion, enslavement, or extermination.
• Extreme nationalism and expansionism (Lebensraum).
• A cult of hierarchy, strength, militarism, and traditional (or at least anti-feminist) gender roles — women were primarily pushed toward motherhood and the home under the “Kinder, Küche, Kirche” ideal.
• Violent rejection of Marxism, liberalism, democracy, and internationalism. The Nazis crushed the actual left (Social Democrats, Communists) as soon as they took power.
• Antisemitism as a central organizing principle, not a side issue.

The “National Socialist” name and some early economic rhetoric (anti-capitalist sounding attacks on “Jewish finance,” public works, etc.) confuse people. In practice the regime privatized a lot, partnered with big business when it suited them, and destroyed independent labor unions. Historians across the spectrum classify it as a far-right, fascist movement, not a left-wing one.

Why the comparison keeps appearing​

Some people online collapse every authoritarian or collectivist impulse into “the left,” or treat any state intervention and any identity-based thinking as the same thing. That flattens history. Nazis cared about racial identity in a genocidal, hierarchical way. Modern “woke” politics (as the term is usually used) emphasizes equality of outcome across identity groups, anti-racism as currently defined, and skepticism of traditional hierarchies. Those are not the same project.

You can criticize both. You can note that extremes sometimes share methods (propaganda, censorship, street violence, personality cults). But calling Claus “woke” is just category error. He would have had the people who use that word today shot, and they would have had him condemned as the purest expression of systemic racism and fascism.

So no. Not a wokedummy. A genocidal far-right dictator whose ideology is well-documented and does not map onto 21st-century progressive identity politics.
