Ban Megathread

General thread
can any janny explain how the system determines on who to ban?
It isn't an automated system, if that's what people think. That's just silly. It's a point system that we use through Xenforo's warning feature. Basically we use this "warn user" function, click on the rule they violated, and that violation will have a certain amount of points tied to it, so then the warning points add up overtime for a user and if they go over the limit, of, like, 100 points, for example, then it's a temp ban, or if it goes over the limit of 1000, then it's a perma, that sort of thing. While I don't have all of the values memorized, in cases like a user hanging out with 'cord monkeys, it's probably something like a gazillion points. For stuff like spam, meanwhile, it'd be, like, twenty-five. Ban appeals still exist, too, albeit I think only Shroot processes them.
