/Christ/ - Christianity General

General thread
Jesus never insulted the Canaanite woman
His current ministry was somewhere else, but the woman interrupted Him
Jesus wasn't irritated by this, but said the following: “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
Many people are shocked by this verse since it was common for Jews to call Gentiles "dogs"
However, Jesus used the word "Κυνάριον" which means little dog or pet dog
So what Jesus was saying is that it is not right to take your children's food and give it to the pet dog
The Canaanite woman was faithful and smart and said “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
Because of the woman's faith Jesus healed her demon possessed daughter
how would "little dog" change the fact that he compared her to an animal?
do you really think "Israel" in the Bible refers to the state that was founded in 1948? The Church is the "Israel" the Bible talks about
no, it referred to the israelites. as if being descended from israel (jacob). i am not an israelite. i am not descended from the 12 tribes. i know the faith is not for me or my brethren to follow.

Billions of Christians are also not Israelites how do you explain this?

how would "little dog" change the fact that he compared her to an animal?
Dismissed my argument entirely award
It's actually a pretty innocent comparison if you think about it

Deliberately ignorant award.
If you want to know why I never discuss faith with you it's because of this.

If somebody doesn't want to believe, you need to let them go.
Our job as Christians is to tell them the gospel and if they refuse it then there's nothing more you can do.

@ecstasy you always pull some dummyed real woman bullshit like "do [x] if you're [y] ntb ntf" and "i win ⓃⓉⒷ ⓃⓇⒻ" instead of actually having an intellectual discussion
It's vain babblings.

Genuinely i cannot mention a single time xe has argued in good faith

like with the chinese and buddhism, or with islam and pakistan. cultural exchange or forcing them to follow it.

i still don't see it. he compared her to a dog, since she was a gentile. gentiles at the time were thought of as unclean by jews, and were compared to unclean animals in their eyes such as pigs, dogs, etc.
@ecstasy you always pull some intelligent cis propositions like "do [x] if you're [y] ntb ntf" and "i win ⓃⓉⒷ ⓃⓇⒻ" instead of actually having an intellectual discussion
fify*

but in all seriousness, that's just shitflinging, stated in event of shitflinging towards me and/or people arguing against me in bad faith. you'd understand once you see when you go up against these people.

boorubraps in general aren't known to debate in good faith.

goot either deflects, projects, feigns ignorance (at least i hope for his sake), or a combination of the three.

ironic, also a perfect example lel

You can't even cope with the fact that you're just spewing outright nonsense 90% of the time [ohnonono]
deflects, projects

you're predictable.

if it was really only for israelites then 2.4 billion people that aren't israelites wouldn't be following it if they didn't benefit from it

I already explained why that's not the case
Like I said, Jesus used the word for a little dog or a pet dog rather than a wild dog
If Jesus would be calling her a dog in a dehumanizing way he would have used the word "κύων" (which means wild dog), instead he used the word "κυνάριον" (which means little dog)
the context of the analogy He used matters too, since he was talking about a household with children and a pet dog
doesn't really sound dehumanizing, does it?
