It's usually either just for attention, or it's a girl who has autism and is unable to fit in with other girls. I feel bad for the latter because it's not like larping as a guy is going to really help them fit in any more than they would as a normal girl.

They genuinely try to push it on girls, too. When I was around 14 my mom would have me talk to dummyed therapists every few weeks and multiple of them tried to convince me/encourage me to transition. Luckily I wasn't really vulnerable with those people and didn't let them influence me. A lot of girls are in vulnerable mental states when they talk to those doctors/therapists and they end up being convinced life will be easier as a man.
