Did the "post your random thoughts" thread ruin the site?

When I made that thread, I didn't think much of it, I never expected it to become this behemoth and the second most popular thread on the entire site.
People joke that it's the #general of the shroom, I can see the argument that it ruined much of the kulchur because now most discussion on the site was sucked towards that one thread, new memes die as the general slides. The forum feels less alive now that there are less threads to make and see because it got compartimentalized into that thing which encourages short form discussion

I've had a few ideas to revive the cave over time. I've thought about adding a shared radio where users can queue songs or even youtube videos to watch, as things are right now though i can only dream

The chatbox is much more inconvenient to talk in than a proper thread. It only serves for spam and short messages.

I tried using it when I was a brand nushroom and gave up eventually, the chat is dead and the layout and chatting experience on desktop and mobile is worse than just a regualr thread

yeah it did kinda suck up all discussion towards it, kinda reminded me of the "current status" thread from steams OT but i dont think even that thread sucked up so many posts
