This just gives more discretion to judges in terms of sentencing, as the minimums led to situations where an 18 year old in a sexual relationship with a 17 year old triggered very long mandatory minimums for said 18 year olds.
Not to mention this bill ends mandatory minimums for many other crimes, not just these ones.
