i mean i only really had 3 laptops fail on me in my lifetime
to be fair i tend to travel around a lot and i used to carry my laptops with me so maybe its that

The only real advantage (to me) are the dedicated trackpad buttons on the bottom of the upper chassis but even then some older high-end tier models have those as well. P50, 51, 52, 53 to name a few. Actually those might be the only ones. Not sure.

The newer models are... suboptimal to me. The older workstations just look (not feel, I've never used one of them before) more "rugged", they look like proper ThinkPads, machines that live up to the family name. Powerful too. Even the P50 (doesn't officially support W11 because it uses Skylake) is still very usable nowadays, much more so than lower-grade new laptops. But that's just me talking.

I changed the cmos battery on my x61s today. It uses cr 2025 but I only had cr 2032 at home so I had to tinker for a bit. It is very close to shorting out and frying the whole laptop and a new one costs over $4.
