I have noticed over the course of my life that people are quick to mention them in any discussion about music, and I've probably unintentionally listened to their work hundreds of times. But I don't think I've ever actually met anyone who genuinely liked them, or at least went out of their way to play their songs on a regular basis.
It's kinda like how people will immediately bring up Seinfeld or Friends when TV shows come up. Except with those, there are still a few (old) fans even if they're sorta shit. The Beatles are dogshit and nobody cares about them, but people still pretend they do. I don't know
