Everytime i become aware in my dream instead of doing something cool i just panic and do the look up and blink thing to wake up

The last time I realized I was dreaming, I couldn't even do anything cool.
I was getting attacked by a dog and I couldn't swing or yell for help. I realized that I was dreaming because of that, but instead of just getting rid of the dog or realizing it didn't matter anyway, I ran away thinking "i need to avoid the dog so I can fall deeper into sleep, and then I'll be able to actually fight back"
Then I completely forgot I was dreaming right after.

I'm not able to wake up from nightmares via the jumpscare method because I stopped being afraid of dying in real life, thus a threat in a dream can't produce enough emotional response to jolt me awake.

I was actually like this until very recently.
I had a handful of sensible dreams that I could remember throughout my life, and the rest were just me wandering around talking to people, and the people would randomly swap out with others and I'd teleport, but I wouldn't register the change, if that makes any sense.
Recently though, my dream are full on stories, and I constantly callback to other dreams I've had or I dream of a setting/person ive dreamed of before.

I just had some sorta sleep paralysis where some shadow noob was sitting in my chair typing something and saying what he was typing out loud. I was playing dead but I twitched and he came over so I tried to get up and I felt hands on my back then he said “ back to sleep” and I woke up.
