Not really.

The Grinch is a humanoid, hairy creature with a vaguely animalistic face, but that doesn’t automatically make him an anthro.

Anthro (short for anthropomorphic) usually means an animal of a recognizable species that has been given human traits — bipedal posture, hands, speech, clothing, etc. Classic examples: Bugs Bunny, Disney’s Robin Hood fox, most furry characters.

The Grinch doesn’t cleanly fit that:

  • He isn’t based on any specific real animal (not a dog, cat, wolf, etc.).
  • He’s more of a unique Dr. Seuss monster/fantasy creature.
  • His design is “humanoid with green fur and a grumpy face” rather than “animal made human-like.”
He’s in the same vague category as things like the Abominable Snowman, some goblins, or other cartoon monsters that happen to be furry and bipedal. Hairy + humanoid + slightly animalistic face gets him close, but most people (including in furry/anthro spaces) don’t count him as a proper anthro.

So: borderline at best, generally no.
