Dear God that prologue mission was boring as fuck. Even if you cope and say this is only introducing Lucia and isn't the start of the game, this is still lame as fuck. GTA V introduced Franklin by having him and Lamar joyriding from the cops through half of Los Santos and while the execution (heh) of it was awful, having Trevor show up by killing a former GTA protag certainly isn't boring. Nobody wants to sit around some noobhell prison for ten minutes and talk to a bunch of SNCAs about gay foid prisoner shit, there's a reason why the most hated missions in GTA V are the ones where you're operating a crane and doing yoga. If I wanted to hear people yap on and on for hours before I got to play the game I would play a JRPG.
The writing in general is just so... boring. It feels so devoid of life, words only meant to appeal to as many people as possible so they can recoup the billions they've spent on this game.
I've given this game some slack when it came to graphics as most people were judging messed up highly compressed Twitter videos but there's no denying the graphics took a hit here. The refraction on the window is less pronounced, the depth of field is messed up, Lucia is clearly missing bits of hair and I have a feeling they fucked with skull structure a bit, and not for the better. I can kind of understand the changes in lighting to an extent as the final build seems to be taking place later in the day than the trailer but it still looks worse than what we got.
There's a puff piece on Dazed Digital that has some details on the game:
- What I said about the honor system earlier being a relationship meter is true
- "For some gamers, the story might even serve as one of their earliest encounters with a romantic (albeit crime-ridden) relationship" DURR HURR HURR FUGGIN INCEL THIS GAME IS THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL HAVE SEX fuck you and die cacaot
- A lot of heccin realisticerino systems from RDR2 are returning such as hair growth, muscle and fat gain/loss, and being forced to sleep
- "Previous instalments, including GTAV, drew criticism for misogynistic themes and underdeveloped female characters, but the series has evolved, and hopes to attract more female gamers to its previously male-heavy player base." I'm not going to take this completely seriously as it just seems like drivel made to shill the game to the magazine's audience but this is still so gay.
- They spent a considerable amount of time talking about the games "fashion ecosystem". Seems very concerning for the online portion of the game, why spend money on real designer clothes when you can spend that same money on some textures that look like them in a game? Lucky for me I don't give a shit about GTA Online, let alone multiplayer titles in general.
All in all the game seems like a boring life simulator version of RDR2 meant for dummys with no imagination. Whoopee.
