Ive had a feeling democracy was shit for a long time, the semi recent american election has convinced me. This is not a discussion about left vs right since who gives a fuck, i cannot convince you that i am right (right as in true) and neither can you convince me that i am wrong. What this thread is about is how can the system be fixed. Should we only allow certain people to vote, if so who and can we prevent bias from affecting their descisions. Should we make it illegal for politicians to lie? Should we go with a non democratic system and which one? To be honest i have no clue but i think it would be fun to throw ideas at the wall until we find a gem amongst the shit.

An emphasis on direct democracy would restore at least some faith in the system. A feeling that your vote mattered. It's not hoping and praying "your representative" decides to do as you'd want him to. This might combat voter apathy and cause people to engage with the topics being voted on, at the least. Seems to work well enough for the Swiss.

The system cannot be fixed because it is dummyed to it's core, unless it's a micro-sized city state made up entirely of aryan beasts with no women than it won't work.

MQNARCHY VVQN, AGREE WITH ANY OTHER IDEOLOGY IF YOU ALSO AGREE WITH MAP RIGHTS

Yeah i've been thinking about that too, like a mechanism that takes the power away from a coally king and temporarily places it in a Bismarck-like figure or swittches the original royal bloodline out for a new one you know what i'm saying ?

There's like 271 billion different variants of anarcho-capitalism all of which have a fandom wiki article where they are depicted as a countryball.
sadly i think ancap might be a wet dream of some edgy autist but maybe ill see the visions or something [itsover]

Only educated people should vote maybe? Not sure if that's a good idea but it sounds good.
Good idea doe this would require the education system to be as independant as possible from the state (while keeping it out of the hands of private interests) perhaps kind of how Cuban universities where allmost microstates pre revolution. Also which kinds of education would allow someone to vote? High school, trade school, college, university? If we only allow university/college grads to vote then the working class would get angry. At the same time since i assume the point of the system is to make more educated individuals matter than perhaps your level of education (along with class grades) could make your vote matter more so that a top of the class carpenters vote might have more importance than the vote of a bottom of the class guy studying economics in college. I think the biggest problem with this system is that it can easily turn incredibly biased if someone got into power and decided that now only the students from a university he owns can vote or something along those lines.

You will only earn voting rights if you were born in the country, no exceptions. Fully educated to the level of whatever grade co-relates with being sixteen. Men only as to avoid votes based on emotion rather then reason.
You overestimate men, saying we vote based on reason rather than emotions is dummyed.

If you look at Finland, universal suffrage became a thing in like 1917 but also mandatory education. In exchange for being able to vote, you must get educated. A good democracy has smart people who make intelligent and rational decisions. If your entire voter base consists of uneducated dummys who believe everything online then it's a flawed democracy that can be abused easily
