Is there any actual reason to buy a new console in (current year)?

All the consoles nowadays have no games or just shitty ones. All the 3 main brands (not that I would ever buy a nintendo console anyway) have shoot themselves in the foot multiple times with stupid decisions and raising prices for their lackluster products.

I despise exclusives as a concept and would prefer that all people got the same opportunities, however if there's nothing valuable to play, why bother. The most I wanted was an xbox series x to play old games with backwards compatibility and emulation, but frankly, at this point, is it not better to just invest in a better pc?

I bought a Series S for $250 on sale in 2022. It's a good system for casual games and Farming Simulator. I also like to compartmentalize my gaming to a single device. For 1080p stuff it's fine.

I don't care about mods and I fucking despise Steam as a platform.
