here's the released PDF file containing a bunch of info regarding his death, quite a bit is expunged and important information like some names are redacted for privacy.
a lot of theories go around due to the circumstances of his death being pretty shitoko like the autopsy doctor says skull damage from bullets seems to indicate a close shooter, within 10 yards, with a 3 round grouping within a few inches of each other on his forehead. the released documents detail the shooter angles coming down into the canyon near the Humvee positions with two shots being 5.56 (generic service rifle) and 7.62 (m240)
