guys ik this is the wrong thread but do u have to buy speicific hard drives or solid state drives for diff pcs or is it one size fits all
Depends on the case size (if you want neatness) and what the motherboard supports but typically no.

There's like three size types, 3.5 inch (which is all hard drives which you shouldn't be using for booting the OS), 2.5 inch (lower end SSDs) and M.2 (jacks right into the motherboard), for the most part they're interchangeable between these types

Your brother kind of left you to dry though lmao, good luck getting an SSD for cheap in this market. I was considering doing a 1TB SSD upgrade for my PS3 but prices are so out of whack that I'm just gonna stick with whatever hard drive's in it.

yeah idk my brother gave me a pc and he said i need a new ssd for it
all cases >=mini-atx standard have a specific contraption for HDD's that support various mounting formats, as for SSD's sometimes you don't even need to mount them, they can just lay unmounted since there's no "mechanical" parts inside of them that can be damaged from case vibration, if you want to mount it there should be mounts on the side of the case
