Just had a BRUTAL intrusive thought about if one of my Bassett Hounds gets hit by a car and the other just has to live alone having watching their brother/sister die horrifically and it won't leave my head.
I genuinely had to bring them inside over this (they're fenced in but still)

a single 30mm round filled with abt 4x the amount of 00 buck pellets in a 12 gauge round close range to the head (which is strapped down) is the most ethical execution. criminal would be executed perpendicular to the observation window so as to not have buck fly at the glass.

• brain is mulched instantly, zero pain experienced so its humane. maintains dignity of criminal by reducing their pain. everything below the neck also still is untouched.
• simpler, cheaper, and less prone to error as its literally just clamps/frame and a cannon. Its hard to mess up pressing a single button that triggers a firing pin in a shell facing a static target. sure theres still the very slight margin of error in a mechanical system, but lethal injection is even more error prone. hell, you can use ballistics to properly get the right distances with appropriate margins of error. its hard to miss with this big shotgun lole.
• id assume its easier for executioner, they just press a button. hell, with sensors and AI you dont even need a guy to press the button as the button would press itself when it determines everything is in position and all the people are safe, abstracting the guilt.
• if the room is also made to be nonstick or just straight metal it would be easier to clean brain bits off though you'd need a plate infront where the buck might spread so the plate can catch the pellet and be easily replaced with a fresh plate. the room would also have a ventilation system and a drain to make cleaning easier. A potential even easier and cleaner and potentially even less risky solution could be to have a metal thick plate infront of the criminal's face to catch the viscera and pellets instantly. plate can also be swapped fast. a metal plate also would greatly reduce the ick I think because less gore everywhere due to plate catching it.
• however the criminal is being executed, if there has to be a window the back of the setup would be to the frame so pellets dont accidentally hit glass and the mindblowing wow part isnt directly seen by the victims.
