Having lots of people who love you > having one person who loves you & you can have sex with. Most relationships are and will always be hollow because they are built either on transaction or sexual attraction first and foremost, if you're going to be a pessimist and say that friends "probably [won't] even like you" then it makes no sense to be optimistic and assume that a relationship would "last forever" when most don't even come close.
