"In Ireland, firearms and specific allowable quarry are tied directly to your Firearm Certificate (FAC). A .22 LR is typically licensed for target shooting or small vermin (like rabbits and crows), and shooting game species outside of specific permissions or standard sporting norms can put you in breach of your license conditions."
If I clatter a deer in the side and then slit its throat while its down, would I be able to get around this? I suppose pheasants would be off limits though as one shot would kill the bugger. Irish gun laws are disgustingly tight and chockablock with outdated restrictions intended for the old IRA. Doing research for my future license application is irking me.

killing deer with .22lr is aryan

You literally couldn't though - to my extremely slim- knowledge. It's too weak, thus the knife if I somehow get it down in some perfect condition where that'd even work.
Might look into .243 Winchester shit. Seems to be much more popular with what I have in mind. Bit pricier though, which isn't great as I'm already going to be set back a fair bit with the gun license and the club registration fees. I'll mull on it and do more research. I'm talking shit here.
