That's why I find that interpretation of the afterlife disheartening and self-serving as well as incredibly autistic. I don't see how the moment you die, you wouldn't want to revisit deceased relatives and meet relatives you never got the chance to meet in life.

It’s kind of a catch-22 because if you don’t get to meet other dead people and are just stuck in your mind like @cargo was imagining, a lot of people would not be happy with that. But if you do then there’s going to inherently be conflict unless everyone is drugged or something. (Which doesn’t seem good either.)

I’m not religious but the concept of hell makes more sense for me when I see it as not eternal punishment but God saying “yeah, we can’t help this noob.”
