They already price hiked the past gen model, it went from 130 dollars to 190, that's when I panic-buyed and bought the one I have now. I had a 1st gen Apple TV 4K that I got for free from a tenant that used to rent our old townhome, and while it still works Apple did cut off software updates with tvOS 27 (which is fair tbh, the model is from 2017 it's been around for long enough)

I'm just glad I bought my past gen Apple TV for 130 bucks when I could.

The only reason I'd justify this is if Apple was trying to seriously position their devices as a console killer but they're never going to put the effort into doing so, they're just gonna claim "durr hurr it plays games" when all they have is Sonic Dream Team and ports of years old Capcom and Ubisoft games. Which is doubly irritating because I feel if there's a company that could actually shake up the console game, it would be Apple.
