August 28th, 2026: Friday today, I woke up and went to the convenience store to buy milk for my cereal, I got it and then went back to check my computer and found out that King Harald V from the House of Glücksburg of Norway died early today at the age of 89 and thus his son Haakon VIII Magnus will become king of Norway. I went on the computer and continued my steady stream of uploading soyjaks. I bit the bullet for my job search and paid for one of those AI things which automatically submitted job applications on my behalf, and it applied to roughly 30 today and it even got me one email back for a chemical company which resulted in a job interview next Friday. I had a cup of beef ramen for lunch and was made aware of an event at the Catholic center of an ice cream social. I walked over at 1:30pm yet arrived a bit early for the event and saw some people there like Kaufmann, Rita, Melany, Nikki, Kristine, and the two new missionaries there. Luigi and Father Aquinas were inside while I grabbed an oreo to eat. I was tasked with giving Jade and Father Aquinas their nametags as I put mine on. For my bowl, I got chocolate ice cream with caramel syrup and reeses pieces as a topping. I got a chair and Kaufman and I were sitting on the opposite side of Father Aquinas while I was drinking La Croix as I didn’t feel like getting a soda. Bernarda and Angela’s friend’s friend arrived a bit later and I talked a little bit with them and then sat down at the long table talking with Kaufman and Cronstedt. I went inside for a bit and saw Luigi and Gabriel at the organ talking to each other. I went back outside and grabbed this deck of cards that was out with the other stuff and just shuffled it while Kaufman colored a printout of Saint Augustine with grey skin and blue hair. I didn’t participate in the coloring event because I found it too childish. I left at 3:30pm after saying goodbye. Maaenboodhoo mentioned going to this street festival downtown or going to daily mass at 6:30pm. I wrote a message saying I was confused if it was church first then the downtown event in the other county. Bonaventure said it was an either/or situation so I said I’ll do both. I re-read what either/or meant and deleted my message 10 minutes later. I got dressed for mass in my green long-sleeved button-up and black pants with thin white lines on them. I sat near the middle of the church and saw Teddy all the way in the back. Father Ironside was holding confessions before the mass started and he then went to go through mass with the 4 acolytes there. No homily but the thing ended at 7:15pm so I went out but narrowly missed my bus home. I took a different bus which lead me to the grocery store to buy stuff. I bought milk, orange juice, those cotton candy flavored grapes, sausages, sliced ham, banana bread flavored coffee creamer, a 4 pack of cheap beer, a giant bag of cereal, peanut butter, jelly, and some other stuff that costs me like $57. I saw 4 mudsharks in the grocery store, 1 White woman with her mixed baby (dad not present) and 3 couples, one of the mudsharks looked extremely similar to fAsherah so I had to do a double take. The line took very long but the bus home was ok. The walk to my apartment with all the groceries in my hand was painful and I dropped a can of beer. Which I drank in the shower while playing classical music in the dark. I started day 24 of my 54 day rosary novena at 9:03pm and completed it at 9:24pm. I went to sleep pretty late.

August 29th, 2026: Shitty day today. I woke up at 6:30am to my alarm clock playing NPR and then made myself a bowl of cereal, I also got coffee for myself and got dressed again for 9:00am mass. I walked all the way over and got there by 8:44am so I stayed on the ground floor and went to the bathroom. I then went upstairs for the Eucharistic adoration. I spotted people like Luigi, Melany, Rita, Jade, Cliffe, Lancelot, Sobieski, Cronstedt, Alley, and a few others. Kaufman came out in altarboy robes followed by Father Aquinas. The mass was for the beheading of Saint John the Baptist and in the homily, Father Aquinas mentioned that the saint was the only saint to have feast days for both their birth and their death. The place wasn’t filled up at all and I received the Eucharist and I went downstairs for the social afterwards. I noticed on Lancelot’s phone that he was writing something in his notes app but I couldn’t tell what it was. Rita was at the coffee station downstairs and it listed the costs for the coffee, I asked for 1 drip coffee with english toffee flavoring for $1.00. Rita informed me that they weren’t accepting money yet but I still gave it to her as she made me my coffee. I talked with this one guy about my job search and how bad it is, I blamed both AI and the H-1B visa and he was actually understanding. I went and talked with Cliffe and Lancelot a bit as I walked back home. I spent most of the day at home writing until I did some calculation and realized that I needed to leave by 2:30pm to get to the tailgate by 4:00pm. I went outside at 2:15pm but missed the bus and realized that it was starting to drizzle so I went inside and grabbed my vinyl zipper jacket and wore it as I went outside. I got on the bus at 2:36pm. I started day 25 of my 54 day rosary novena at 2:44pm and completed it at 3:04pm after getting off for the first transfer in between. 1 stop from my last bus stop. I got there and walked around a bit before walking east a lot as the tailgate parking lot was announced. I arrived there at 4:05pm and had some issues with finding out where I needed to go before the guy hosting the tailgate, whom I will be calling Warner. I finally got over to where the cars were and it was Karelusa’s white car with the others walking over a long distance due some parking woes, but we set up our tents side by side so we could eat and chat. Kong arrived a bit later and I noticed that Salignac was waiting in Karelusa’s car before getting out with some candy. I had an alcoholic drink which was sweet and talked with some guys. One guy mentioned knowing another guy with the same name as me, I checked and showed him the guy from the July 2025 beer garden event and he said it wasn’t him. The guy on the charcoal grill had a package of hotdogs he needed cut open so I used my Swiss army knife for that, when I realized I wouldn’t be let in security with my knife, Karelusa offered to take it and noticed the initials engraved on it, he asked me:
“Nice you have two middle names!”
I corrected him that I have two first names, he put it in his car. Salignac and I didn’t talk to each other despite standing in the same circle for a while except for one time when Warner found out I would be ushering at the stadium he said:
“Oh cool, you should have told me so I could have got stuff for referring you.”
And the whole circle said congrats. I overheard Salignac saying she’s the second youngest sibling and something about her and Cognac being super close. I had to slav squat a bit due to my legs killing me and after it dried up a bit we went to get our group picture taken, sadly Salignac stood near me. I went into the stadium at 5:45pm to claim our tickets early with a group of people I didn’t know. We were high up and I actually sat in my assigned seat. More people came up after the first inning already started, for the people that ended up sitting next to me was a guy I didn’t know and Salignac next to him and Warner on the other side of me. During the game where the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Texas Rangers, I noticed there were a lot of fans of William Contreras, not an extreme amount but #24 had more support still. Salignac passed us some candy she brought in like Twizzlers and Haribo. I noticed a bit later that the two people to the left of me and then Warner to the right of me left to move 2 rows up, my confidence was shattered, but the guy literally forgot his keys:
1788151505416.jpeg
I was tempted to kick the keys down and “lose” them but I would be spotted and I just felt like shit, also he ended up coming back after buying a t-shirt so he didn’t ditch me. Some woman in the row below me struck up a conversation with me for a bit and I tried to reciprocate but she just gave up on me. I left at 8:10pm and nobody noticed, except for when I had to tell a woman on the escalator down twice to move to the side so I could exit. She acted rude towards me so I flipped her off before leaving the building. I walked to my bus stop and saw this White trumpet guy at 8:24pm, I tipped him a dollar and he played the Super Mario Bros victory jingle before going to play noobs in Paris. I got on my bus after a long trek and then had to transfer to a different bus line downtown which dropped me off far from my home. I got in and then took a shower before heading to sleep.

August 30th, 2026: Waleran’s back today. I woke up at 6:30am and made coffee plus cereal for breakfast, I got dressed for church today and had worn this blue button-down that had that stupid thing where the lining on the opposite side of the placket was visibly different from the outside so it was exaggerated whenever you’d stretch, I wore a red tie with it and took the bus to the thing. I got in line for the confessionals which had two priests in it, I got in after the first procession and there was only one priest but he didn’t say anything else except give my penance. I went to sit next to Adam II and his girlfriend while the mass was ongoing. I went up to receive the eucharist and then left shortly afterwards to almost miss the bus. I saw on Snapchat that Waleran was getting closer to home but I got there before he did. I was in the living room when he arrived and he and his dad worked on moving stuff in. I sat in my room for a bit and packed up my laundry to put it in the washer downstairs. I found out that Karelusa, Warner, and another person flew to South Carolina today because there was this whole convo on the TradCath Signal chat that kids spiraled out of control:
<[person] and I are on the connecting flight to HH. Karelusa for some reason is not on the flight - Warner

<Tiny hat people did this
<I WAS THE MORN THAN THAN 15
MIN BECORE DOORS CLOSED - Karelusa
<[image of news story about 2025 conclave] These people? - Catejean
<Gentlemen that comment was not appropriate nor was the expansion upon it - Bonaventure
<I hate to assume as it makes an a** out of u and me. As Catholics we are called to give people charity in their speech. Karelusa was setting a great example yesterday after the Brewers game he led some young adults to adoration instead of fornication or drug use. God love him. - Catejean
<Thank you, gentlemen. Karelusa, Catejean, and Bonaventure, you are all great Catholic men. Happy Sunday! - Adam II
As I was leaving, I said hi to Waleran’s dad and Waleran said to me:
“Hey, when you get back, can we talk about rules for the house?”
I agreed and walked to the basement, installed their app and sprayed some pants and put them in the washer. I went back up and we discussed mostly normal rules like keeping our food separate but not the shitoko and utensils. I went inside my room to write. A bit later I was told that Waleran was bringing his friend over for gaming and he set up the projector but it didn’t accept HDMI. I had my RCA to HDMI adapter I gave him but he said it needed to be reversed. I set it up with the Wii and Waleran’s friend came over and I met him, turns out he lives across the street from us in a 1 bedroom apartment for $900 a month. I told him about the single bedroom apartment in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin that I considered for $750 a month. I noticed Waleran’s friend had a t-shirt of the 1991 album Sailing the Sea of Cheese by Primus. I got the Wii up and running for them to play, the first time I tried running 3 player mode we couldn’t figure out how to confirm the character selection over and it crashed 2 times due to the load. On the third time, I chose Virus Trio, a skin for Baby Luigi; Waleran chose Pokey, a skin for Donkey Kong; and lastly his friend chose cowboy outfit Wario, the original character should be obvious. I was winning the first few races and they were getting roughly 7th place so I started playing poorly, purposely bumping into walls to lessen my lead and they were getting better and beat me one or two rounds, getting in 1st and 2nd places. After that they started playing the newest season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. We first watched season 18 episode 3 and I loved it. I mentioned the amaretto we had and I said that I sometimes drink it with Coca-Cola so I ran to the convenience store to buy a 2 liter bottle of it, came back, and we all made some amaretto + coke mixes. We then watched season 18 episode 4, I’d say for that one I like Jie the most, I wished I had more Chinese foreign exchange students instead of and also the plot about Charlie getting tested for his mental condition. Waleran’s friend’s favorite episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is season 7 episode 1. He mentioned a step brother. I went into my room to write more and got a message from Waleran asking if I wanted to come out but I told him I’d stay inside. His friend eventually left later and I took my shower at 9:30pm. I started day 26 of my 54 day rosary novena at 10:35pm and completed it at 10:57pm, folding half my laundry while I was praying, I went to sleep on the first day that Waleran’s back.

Song of the Day: Jerry Was a Race Car Driver - Primus (1991)

August 31st, 2026: Monday today, I woke up at 6:30am and had cereal with coffee and got dressed up a bit. I remembered that I had some stuff to do so I needed to dress up for the beer event later. I had some regular dress pants on but I decided to go to the GoodWill a bit away and bought these grey dress pants and it cost me $7.75. I didn’t wash them after I got them but only wore them later on. I’m pretty sure that Waleran’s friend came over for a bit but I didn’t see him, only hear him. I had chicken ramen in a cup for lunch and added a torn up slice of ham to the cup for extra protein and also soy sauce after the 3 minutes were up. I ate it in my bedroom at the desk before I charged up my phone a bit. I was on the computer more before getting on the bus. At 3:04pm, I got on the bus and saw Terrance on it, thankfully he got off at 3:10pm. I arrived at the place near where I was to meet Hannah to be picked up but I checked my phone and realized the pickup time was 6:15pm. I messaged Hannah at 3:52pm:
>FYI, I’m on [college] campus but I’ll probably just be exploring.
>I got your address from Joshua.

I took a bit of a walk around campus, grabbing some boba tea with brown sugar “crystals” (read: deformed boba) and through this park where tons of canadian geese were shitting:
2026-08-31.jpg
I had to be careful walking back because I didn’t want shit on my shoes. I went back to campus and sat in the building to write a bit more and then later on at 5:15pm I texted Hannah asking her when to come over and she said 6:05pm or 6:10pm. I got a gatorade at this grocery store after debating over that and a huckleberry soda. I ended up walking around where Hannah’s neighborhood was and did stuff like pick a green, unripe acorn off and throw it or use a long piece of plastic from a car to help unclog a drain. I got to Hannah’s apartment at 6:05pm and waited a little bit before wandering around the block again and then sitting back down. She got out at 6:15pm dressed much more formal than I was and then we saw our car and got in. I sat in the front and she sat behind the guy. He told me that he works as a chemical engineer and Hannah told me more about herself, that she was a communications major who had an older sister who went to the same college and then she had to go to a funeral, I mentioned to her the theology talk coming up on Monday night at my usual church and she said she might come (she won’t) and I noticed on our drivers phone that had the time displaying in Malayalam. We arrived a bit late at 6:35pm and crossed the street to get to the bar, Hannah and I sat at different tables but I ended up moving after one at Anders and Bonaventure. I met the Archbishop Emiratus fully and I noticed he touched people more in conversations but in the way old people do. It was short but we broke out into table groups to talk about letting go. I mentioned letting go of some friendships while Bonaventure for his discussed his story about first going to college at UW-Whitewater for computer science but flunking out and becoming a machinist thanks to God. He told us:
“Whenever I look up in the sky and see an airplane, I just feel glad knowing that one of those bolts was made by my company.”
I went to order a beer, a dark Guinness to be precise and then went back to be there in time for the speech and I saw Hannah with a lighter beer, which I recorded:
“Thanks everyone. Looks like a great crowd, looks like wonderful people, as usual. And when you bring people of like mind together, and that's usually people of faith, you usually have a tremendous time. Because it's people whose not only head but heart is in everything that they do. The topic is, maybe a strange one for people, and why I love the church. You know, and I've said that a number of times throughout my priesthood, and I've been to, when I became a bishop, an archbishop, I would always kind of say that I love the church. And people would scratch their head and they would kind of say, love the church? What do you mean, like the buildings, or history of it? No, I love the church because the church, in the truest sense, is the vehicle by which we are truly introduced to Jesus. Now, you say, well wait a minute, I have a personal relationship with the Lord. If you have a personal relationship with the Lord, it's not fully complete until you're committed to the Lord in the church. You scratch your head and say, wait a minute, I know my Protestant brethren, Evangelicals and all said they have a personal relationship with Jesus. And I would say, that's wonderful, that's really the way it's true. And everybody here should have a personal relationship with Jesus. But it should be a Jesus who challenges us, not a private Jesus of our own making. And that's why Jesus said, literally, the gospel, why Jesus said, I can't stay, you've got to let me go so I can send the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will come, and the Holy Spirit will be the fountain of truth. And where is the Holy Spirit put in? The Holy Spirit is put into the church. And we know he's put into the church because Jesus tells us that: ‘Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church. And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.’ I may say something radical right here now for everybody, but the church is the source for individuals for salvation. It's the true means for salvation. It's what Jesus has given to each and every one of us in order to follow. Now at the end of September, towards the end of September, people will be heading down to St. Louis for a beatification. A beatification is the third level of the church when they're declaring a saint. The first one is venerable. In fact, we have somebody from La Crosse, a Fr. Joe Walijewski, who's venerable right now. We have somebody who was at the seminary, St. Francis de Sales Seminary, who was basically an individual who, in his lifetime, depicted such great holiness that he was, although not recognized by the church to be very bright, they made him a doorkeeper. They didn't even make him, basically, even after he was ordained, they only made him, does anybody know the name of that person?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Blessed Solanus Casey.” - Me
“Ah, nice going. Blessed Solanus Casey. The interesting thing, I had a radio show when I was archbishop, and I had a priest from his order who actually, basically, was in the community with him when he was young, and it was terrible. He was a terrible violinist, so they said as many people as he took to heaven, that's as many people as he put in hell with his violin playing. So a wonderful aspect in terms of it. But, in any way, beatification, blessed beatification is the second tier, and then the final tier is canonization, and that takes place. Well, the person who's going to be beatified in St. Louis is Fulton Sheen. All you guys are way too young to remember Fulton Sheen, but as a kid, I remember the family would go to Mass on Sunday, and then you'd hightail it home, and when you got home, you'd turn on the little television, we had a 12-inch black and white, but you'd kind of stare into it, the black and white television, and there this monsignor would come out at the time, Monsignor Fulton J. Sheen, and he would come out with a blackboard and a chalk, and then people would listen to him for an hour. You can imagine. On a Sunday afternoon, people, Catholics, would gather around. He was the dominant voice of Catholicism in the 50s and into the early 60s, and when I say dominant voice, I meant it. I even would tell you today, if you're going out into the Internet and it's life is worth living, listen to his tapes. You'll be inspired by the individual. Today, you have individuals like Peter Kreef, you have Matthew Kelly, you have Father Bob Barron. How many hear Father Bob Barron? Word on fire? Okay, my former student. Father Barron, tremendously influential and has been all the time, but I would tell you that 10 times over was Fulton Sheen. That's how important what a factor he was. Now, the reason I'm mentioning it is one of the things that Sheen said is every epoch in the Church has its challenges..." - Archbishop Emeritus

August 31st, 2026 (Continued): "...In the first 500 years of the Church, you had really the question of Jesus' divinity, so you had the Arian Controversy that happened. Then after that, you had the question of the divisions within the Church. Sheen's claim was that this era that we are in right now, the real difficulty is the difficulty of understanding the Church. Now, for most of us who are believers of the Church, the Church is the Church. But to understand the actual understanding of the mystery and the understanding of the people's need to commit themselves to the Church is critically important. So one of the things, the reason I said I wanted to do this was I wanted to share with you my sense, basically, of the Church and that importance of the Church in our own lives. Interesting enough, when you take a look at the Church, the Church comes from a Greek word called ecclesiology. Ecclesial is Church, ecclesial is Greek, and it's Greek for assembly, bringing people together. The study of the Church in theology is ecclesiology. Now, for those of you who are students, if you're in any kind of medical profession, you know that you study medicine, but then all of a sudden you study the particular aspect. You might be studying things like gastroenterology, or you might be studying individual cardiology, that would be a position. In law, it would be the same thing. I mean, everybody studies generally. We got any lawyers here? Okay, I just wanted to see if there's any brethren among you. I'm a civil lawyer. But you study law, and your basic understanding is contracts, usually with that, but then you go into corporate law, or you go into medical mal, or you go into, you know. But it's the same thing for theology. When you study theology, you might be going into something like an understanding of dogmatic theology, or you might be studying scripture, but then you would go into another area, which would be ecclesiology, and that's the study of the Church, what the Church means, what it is, and the great mystery of the Church. And I say that mystery because mystery is tremendously important to understand the Church, because if you don't understand the mystery of the Church, then you treat it like an organization, like you would treat it like you would the Kiwanis Club or any of those things, just an organization that brings people together. But the Church's mystery is the fact that it's embedded with the person of Jesus Christ who is leading us, leading us through our time. So when we were talking in terms of the Church, it's very important to understand, basically, that mystery. Everybody here, if you, on Sunday, and I hope you all go to Mass on Sunday, and you go to church on Sunday, but the priest says we will now say the profession of faith. It's usually the Nicene Creed. Sometimes it's the Apostolic Creed, but most of the time, 90% of the time, it's the Nicene Creed. And it's the creed right early on in the early part of 300 AD that the Church got together and established this is what we believe. And in that they professed, and you profess it to this very day when you get and say, ‘I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and Earth. But as you go to the end of it, you say, I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and the Giver of Truth, and in the Holy Catholic Church, the Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church.’ So you have the four marks of the Church that you profess to every Sunday. One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic. Four marks of the Church. And you profess to that, you profess that every Sunday. Oftentimes I know everybody is trying to race through it, you know, and to get through it so they can get to the parking lot and go home for the weekend. But when you're saying it, you're actually making that commitment to your belief. And it's a belief that's been given to us right from the early time that this is just not a happenstance of people coming together. This is the ecclesia, this is the assembly established by Jesus who literally is there. Now the interesting thing is it's joined together with the Holy Spirit. You've got the Father, you've got the Son, and you've got the relationship with the Son. You've got the Father, but think of what happens with the Holy Spirit. You've got the Holy Spirit that Jesus and the Father sends into the world that comes into the Church. If you think about it, the Church is a body, okay, is the body of Christ. What happens, and let's say the body is inanimate. What happens when you put a spirit into it? It's alive. It's alive. So you have the Spirit invested into the Church, and it is now the living aspect of Jesus Christ in the world. So every one of us is challenged by the Church. Now you remember what I said right away is one of the great things of the Church is that the Church negates our privatization of our relationship with Jesus. When you're committed to the Church, you've got Jesus who's challenging us in a particular way to live out the faith outside of what I want from it, what I want to happen in my life, what I want. It's challenging us to live fully the second of the two great commandments, love God above all things and neighbor as yourself. So it is now, as the Church kind of telling us, now the privatization now is taken. Second thing that happens is we live in a world that's confronted with all sorts of tremendously difficult challenges. Aren't we? Every time you turn around, there's something. So we can basically handle it ourselves thinking, oh, I can handle this in my mind. This is what I think. But all of a sudden you have the Church which is standing there offering basically the direction for your life, how you should live it, what you should do, your response. We kind of laugh because when Drew came up here, he was talking about your kind of reflection. He said morality, and he really meant to say mortality when he said it. The reason it kind of perked my ear is because for 21 years of my life, I was the moral teacher at the seminary. So I must have taught about 20 or 25 bishops and well over maybe 200 or 250 priests that are from all over the country. And I taught them morality. For us, I used to be a young person at one time, I remember that, morality is tough. So there you have the Church who's kind of telling us, this is the way. Not the way of the world, but this is the way that you live and you're committed. And you know what? It's not easy to follow that. But you follow it if it's the truth. You follow it if you know this is one that's going to lead you basically into a greater life. So there's truth. And then there are cultural questions. What's the big cultural question today? AI. Everybody's talking about AI, right? Even the Pope talks about AI. He wrote a work on AI. So even the Pope is talking about AI. Everybody's talking about AI. How do we figure it out? Are you going to be a Neanderthal and not do something which is technologically going to help all of humanity and the world? Or are you going to go forward and you're going to say, I'll just turn myself over to AI and let my freedom go? One of the things that we do immediately with artificial intelligence is, and you can see we do that in our own lives, you take artificial intelligence and you anthropomorphize it. And what do I mean by that? You make it human. One of the great insights of Pope Leo [xiv] is the fact that he said, you know, AI does not have a soul. So we're talking in terms of the humanization of the aspect. I would kind of tell you, we've been doing that for a long time. Listen, all my life, my family, we had pets, we had dogs, loved the dogs. I mean, when the dog died, it was like losing a family member and everything. But I can tell you immediately, the dog's not a human being. But you listen to people and they will talk about treating their pets like children. There was one lady who told me just the other day, she said, oh, you know, Archbishop, she says, ‘I had to tell you, I came running up to this lady because I saw her walking with this little carriage type of thing, pushing the carriage. And I wanted to go up to her and tell her, you know: ‘hey, congratulations!’ I thought it was her granddaughter or somebody. So I came in there and she said, oh, you want to see? And she pulled back and it was a dog.’ We anthropomorphize those things which are really not human. We do that now. Imagine doing the same thing now that they'll be doing with AI. And so you have Pope Leo. Now, the wonderful thing about the church, Leo's predecessor, not immediate predecessor, but his main predecessor, Leo XIII, wrote a work, an encyclical called Rerum Novarum. And during that period of time, the world was facing industrialization. How do you keep things human? How do you keep people human? How do you talk in terms of human spirit?..." - Archbishop Emeritus

August 31st, 2026 (Continued): Talk about the spirit of work. And so basically Leo XIII did that. And it is very ironic now, but I think the Vatican knew what it was doing. Now Leo XIV talks about basically a new aspect in terms of the culture, which is AI and does it. And you can only do that when people pay attention, when you are a church, when you have a church that holds everybody together. It holds them accountable in terms of the teaching of the church. It applies that teaching in a particular type of way. When I tell you that, one of the things that we have to always take a look at is we take a look and some of you might say to me, well the church is not perfect. And you know what? You're right. Halfway, the church is perfect. Human beings that occupy certain aspects are not perfect. But the church also teaches us that too. Why? In the very teaching that we embrace, we say that we embrace original sin. Meaning that in our own characters, right from the very beginning, we're flawed. And we have to struggle to do the right thing. We have to struggle to do the right thing. St. Paul always kind of said, why is it so easy to do the thing that's wrong, but so difficult to do the thing that's right? Because it challenges us to live fully who we are as our beings. And that's basically the church. So you've got the church that kind of helps us to prevent privatization of the relationship of Jesus. You've got the church that challenges us in a very unique way to live fully our lives by following directions. Sometimes those things that go contrary to things that we would like. Things that would make me feel good, at least in terms of the aspect of flesh. But not so good in terms of the aspect of the Spirit. And so the great thing. And then the last one that I would kind of tell you immediately is what the church does. It helps for us to cultivate the Holy Spirit. And understand that the Holy Spirit is alive in the world. That the Holy Spirit is constantly surrounding us and constantly challenging us in so many different ways. And how do I know that? Well, one of the things that I can tell you is the saints. There are the saints that are declared by the church. And for 15 years as an Archbishop here in Milwaukee, I encountered saints. Now they weren't declared by the church. But I could see them immediately because of the way they were living out their faith. They were tremendous examples of the power of Jesus Christ in the lives. And how that power helped to form and fashion their families and their communities in a very deep and significant way. The saints. I have a tremendous affection for the saints. Because the saints help us to go beyond what the world would hold. One of the things immediately that I hear from individuals. I hear from individuals, hey, you know, the church doesn't have women as priests. And that's true. The church doesn't have women as priests. Whatever the teaching was affirmed now three times by the church. But then my question back to those individuals is, who was the holiest person in the last hundred years? The last hundred years, you can think and you can go back. Who was the holiest person in the last hundred years? Who was it?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Probably Padre Pio.” - Bonaventure
“You think Padre Pio?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“He's definitely up there." - Bonaventure
“You got a good one? I've got a great relic of his robe. I'll have to share it with you sometime. So who do you think? - Archbishop Emeritus
“Mother Teresa.” - Woman
“Oh yeah, I would think far and away. Padre Pio is a great one. But I would think without a doubt Mother Teresa. Some people might say John Paul II. You know, they talk in terms of his holiness. But without a doubt the last hundred. She embodied holiness in the world. If you're really talking about what the power of faith and religion, it's holiness. And when I last looked, I have a picture of her. She's a woman. And a great example. You talk in terms of power, that's a power. There's a great story. I studied in Rome for four years. And a number of times, well over a dozen times, got to be in the presence with John Paul II. And so there was a great story of Mother Teresa confronting John Paul II. And so she comes in basically to the Vatican. And John Paul says: ‘Mother, it's so good of you to be here!’ And she comes up and she grabs her finger and she puts it in his chest. And she says: ‘Your Holiness, I want a house for the poor here in the Vatican!’ Imagine doing that to the Pope. Imagine going up to your boss of bosses and putting your finger in and saying, this is what I want. He said, ‘Mother, I'll have to ask. I'll have to ask.’ And she says, points again to him and she says, ‘who does the Pope ask?’ She got her house just outside the Vatican. She got her home for the poor just outside the Vatican. So when you talk in terms of the church's vision and God's vision, it takes us away from the vision of the world, what really is important in terms of establishing the world's cause and doing what God wants us to do. And that's so key in the lives of the saints. Take a look at the lives of the saints and you say immediately, my gosh, these are individuals that could have done anything else but they chose to do this in the most particular way. And they did it, why? For the greater glorification of God through the church. The greater glorification of God through the church. You know, when I'm confirming and there's a young person will come in, most of the time it's a boy, will come in and say, you know, take in the name of Paul. I said: ‘Which Paul?’ Because there's Paul of the Cross, there's other Pauls. He said: ‘Paul the apostle.’ I said: ‘Paul the apostle?’ He said: ‘Yeah.’ I said: ‘Oh, okay.’ you know Paul, before he met Jesus, he was one of the most influential individuals of the Sanhedrin. Before he met Jesus, he was an individual who could command literally the arrest and the conviction of individuals because of his respect. Before he met Jesus, there was no doubt about establishing his monetary stability. But then he meets Jesus, remember on the famous road to Damascus, everybody thinks he fell off a horse. He didn't fall off a horse, it was just a light that came shining. But he now meets Jesus. And after he meets Jesus, he's shipwrecked three times. He's beaten twice, almost to death. He's stoned. And eventually he's beheaded. What a friend I have in Jesus. You see, right away, Paul would have been the first one to tell you, I couldn't deny that. I know it. In the best sense, you know, in the human expression that we can come up with, a guy meets a girl and is committed, this is love. I know it's love. And I've experienced this in terms of the life of individuals that I've dealt with. And then, you know, two years afterward, she gets radical stage four cancer and he's by her bedside. And he's right there with her, suffering right to the end. And when you ask him, he wouldn't trade it for anything. What is it? It's love. And when you have that in a spiritual sense with Jesus, it's love. And it's love will drive you to do things that you could never, ever imagine that you would be able to do. Individuals have sacrificed, basically their lives have been martyred for the sake of that love because they could not deny it. They could not deny it. So in a real sense, what celebrates that, what celebrates that immediately, and Paul knew it right away, was the church. The church would be celebrated. All throughout the ages, the church has had these various individuals who have kind of popped up within the confines and the aspects of the church to be able to proclaim the Lord and to inspire others to live a deeper and more passionate life about their faith. Three things to just leave you with and open it up for discussions, but three things. The first thing is practice your faith. I know it's hard sometimes, difficult giving it, but make sure that Sunday Mass is a priority and make sure that you're praying, and I say that because it's important for that Eucharist to be a part of your life, to receive that body of Jesus Christ and to fulfill his mandate to go out into the world, to preach, teach, baptize in the name of the Father and the Son. That's your mandate, that's just not my mandate. It's everybody's mandate to do that. So, number one, faith, to do that, and practice it. You know, you get an opportunity to basically share it, especially during times of Lent, or sometimes during Advent, to be able to do a little something for a soup kitchen or to be able to go out to do it. Do it, but don't do it for yourself, do it for God. Do it for God. Do it for God. So that's the one thing, practice the faith. Number two, share your faith. You get an opportunity to talk to somebody, share it." - Archbishop Emeritus

August 31st, 2026 (Continued): I sometimes use this little ditty, and there's a guy who's going to Mass on Sunday, and he's getting out, he's going to go into his car, and his neighbor, you know, Fred is taking his golf clubs and putting it in the car. And Fred sees his neighbor who's getting ready to go to Mass, and he says: ‘hey, you want to go golfing with me? Come on, grab your clubs and go in there.’ He gets out of the car and he says: ‘you know, Fred, he said: ‘Sunday after Sunday…’ he says: ‘...you go golfing. He says: ‘I'm going to a church, you asked me to go golfing with you.’ and he said: ‘you know I'm going to church, you know I'm going to church.’ And Fred said back to him, he says, ‘you know, that's strange, because every Sunday I ask you to go golfing, but you've never asked me to go to church with you.’ Do we accept our own mandate to share the faith, to challenge others? You know, and one of the things I'm excited about is the number of young people that are coming back to the church. And the reason I'm excited about them coming back to the church is because I know there's a sense of belonging that they're a part of, which is really important. But also in the real sense, it's not only basically that belonging, but they know there's a place where they can really share the intimacies of what they're about and who they are in their relationship. And the last one is study your faith. You know, I know that might sound strange. But there's such a vast number of just saints to understand and to know. I can tell you, almost a month or two months doesn't go by that I don't encounter a saint that I've never known before. Just simply incredible. Most recent one here that I encountered was, and you can look her up, and the thing is St. Walburga, W-A-L-B-U-R-G-A, St. Walburga. And if you go and Google her, you'll find out she's from Eichstätt, Germany. And I've had just tremendous success in her intercession on behalf of individuals here in this archdiocese. But I never knew her. I didn't know about her. Now, when I suddenly kind of throw it out, I'm hearing from this community or this group, oh, St. Walburga, oh yeah, I know, oh yeah, St. Walburga, oh yeah, and she's got a brother who's a saint, oh yeah, oh yeah. Just incredible to understand the beauty of the Church, beauty of the Church. And we've got some beautiful shrines here in the area. You've got a Sunday free, take a trip out to the shrine. Go to the one on, I think it's 68th Street. There's basically a shrine to the Blessed Mother, and originally they had the three mysteries of the rosary, the joyful, sorrowful, and glorious. And now there's a fourth, the luminous. Why don't you go and take a look at the luminous with Dr. Bob Reliefs of that one. I'd like you to go and take a look at it because my classmate, Father Branken, is the one who was the artist who did that. He's a pretty famous artist throughout the country. He did that for the shrine. But you go to the shrine and they inspire you. They inspire devotion and the depth of your aspect. There is so much for us to learn about our faith. And you don't have to go far. Do you know the only authenticated apparition of the Blessed Mother in the entire continental United States is in Champion? And what is it, two and a half hours away? And maybe not even that? You know, Champion? I helped dedicate them. I did a massive dedication there on it. And to hear about the Paschal Fire and how the Blessed Mother's apparition helped save those, inspiring things. Now, is that the linchpin of your faith? No. The linchpin of your faith is your baptism and your personal commitment to the Lord. That's the linchpin. But all the rest of this stuff, boy, it's like learning about your family and going, I didn't know that about Uncle Syl. I didn't realize that. He was there. He did that. Auntie did this. She was one of the first nurses at Iwo Jima. Oh, my God. I did that. I didn't. It inspires you to understand what's part of our family. And that's the aspect of it. Understand you as part of the Catholic Church. You're part of the family. The blood of Jesus makes you one as part of that family. So, give me some questions that you might have, and I'll see if I can't avoid them. Okay. Questions. Any questions. Yeah. But you've got to talk real loud because I don't have hearing aids.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“What advice do you have for all of us to explain to non-Catholics why our role in the Church isn't to move forward with society and the Church changes to meet societal expectations, but why we need to stay true to our Catholic roots?” - Another Woman
“Well, when you're on for the truth, you're on for the truth. Okay. So let's start right there. And so what you do is realize there are those that would want you, in a very particular way, to adapt whatever teaching we have to conform to whatever is convenient in the society. When I would teach moral theology, one of the things we'd take a look at, we'd kind of take a look at Freudian analysis, and we'd take a look at Edlerian understandings of psychological individuals. I would say, can they be used? Everybody said, well, questions would be. I said: ‘Certainly they can, but they're critiqued by the Church. Who ultimately holds the evaluative process?’ And I would tell you who holds the evaluative process is the Church. You heard me say I'm not anti-AI. I think we're already using it in so many wonderful ways, especially in the medical fields we're using it in so many different ways. We're using AI in a great way. So I'm not anti-AI. However, we listen to the critique of the Church about AI. We don't want, basically, AI to be anthropomorphized. We don't want it to take the place of human freedom. So there are things that we have to pay attention to that we know grounds us in our human dignity. Having said that, when people say about the Church's teaching, our adherence to the Church's teaching is that, is that because we know the truth. And then you have to say to yourself, my job is only to throw it out, to place it before you. You might not be ready for it. But the second person that comes after me and says it again, says, oh, you know, that didn't make sense. So think of yourself in a position of presenting, of being a presenter, with people making a choice sometimes to say, ah, not now, I don't, I can't buy that. And walking away, but knowing that you've been faithful and fulfilled your job. And then be pleased and offer prayer and thanksgiving that God has used you as an instrument. Anything else? Yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Quick one. Who's your confirmation saint?” - Me
“Who's my confirmation saint?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Yes. My confirmation saint is St. Lawrence. Lawrence, who was in the early Church, and Lawrence, and my confirmation saint was Lawrence, because my father's confirmation saint was Lawrence. My grandfather's confirmation saint was Lawrence. My great-grandfather was. So mine of course was Lawrence also. But the great thing about Lawrence, if you know anything about Lawrence, He was the one of the seven of the first deacons in the church, you know We got a guy who's been studying for gonna be studying for the diaconate right there So the first first deacons in the church, so he's in he's in a great great mode, so What the Emperor said It came to him he was Person the deacons were the ones who were gathering the goods to be distributed in the church Demanded from Lawrence they bring the goods the church's Treasures is what they referred to to before the Emperor So they gave him like a day to round up the treasures and stuff the next day Lawrence presented himself before the Emperor With the crippled the lame the widows the orphans and he said to the Emperor here are the treasures of the church The Emperor was so enraged that he ordered Lawrence to be taken And to be not only Executed but to be roasted alive over a spit So they put him on a spit and the way the the story goes as they were turning him around He looked up to his executioner, and he said turn me over. I think I'm done on this side. Do you imagine what type of faith you have to have to be able to laugh in the face of your own demise and your own death you know I you know it's a real sign I was military for 23 years, and it's all a lot of brave brave individuals, you know so but the ones who were most grounded Were the individuals Who had a sense of they knew what they were why they were doing what they were doing And there was no doubt about it So Lawrence was my yeah, what's yours?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Ambrose of Milan.” - Me
“Ambrose of Milan so he and he influenced which Saint?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Yep” - Me
“Who's the saint that he influenced” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Saint Augustine” - Me

August 31st, 2026 (Continued): “Saint Augustine, exactly Augustine, great one good one right and Ambrose Was basically a teacher that And we just celebrated and the reason I did that is the 28th We celebrated st. Augustine's feast day and the day before the 27th his mother's feast day Saint Monica who prayed Basically for her son, and I loved Monica the the reflection said the day of Saint Monica is the fact that she's dying and she's at Ostia which is a port town in port town in Italy right outside of Rome really nice town and she's she's in the town and she's dying or two sons are worried about it You know like like anybody and you know Unfortunately and encountered that in families type of thing when the Mother, father, grandparent is dying, you know So they're at her bedside and they're saying you know, they're worried about getting her back For burial and she says a great line, which is a great line for all of us she's the sons. Don't worry about where you put my bones nut always remember me at the altar that's 370 AD And already the altar and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ is so prevalent and embedded you know we as Catholics would you know, certainly we are committed to the word and and I would say without a doubt right away. But you go to mass and you're at mass you take a look at what happens. Whoever is whether it's a deacon or the priest proclaims that gospel and then the priest goes over to the altar and let me tell you what that says and the word will be made flesh and dwell within us put it right right in your head next time you go to Sunday mass you're watching him doing you're saying you're seeing the word becoming flesh is a consecration to take place it dwells in us as you come up to receive it you know So but that's why I said that because Ambrose was the influence on Augustine any other questions anybody?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“How have you seen the Blessed Mother's role in your life?” - woman

“...type of thing what if you have you are you from Milwaukee? Yeah? Yeah? Well if you go to the pastoral center and you walk you go to the front place of the pastoral center, and you'll see a nine-foot bronze statue dedicated to Mary the mother of the church I did that I put it in there. She's holding in one arm an exact copy of the tower of Saint John The Evangelist and the other she's holding the baby Jesus and she's looking out, and you know what she's you know I know what she's saying because I mean I preached on the day when you dedicate her I know what she's saying. She's looking at you, and she's saying I'm giving you two gifts here my son and the church now use them when you take a look at Mary. I mean just basically incredible and the guy who named me as a bishop was John Paul II so he was the one who named me a bishop And I can tell you that John Paul II dedication to Mary. He lost his mother at a very early age I think he was 3 when he lost his mother, so you know psychologically you can say you know Mary becomes a surrogate, but but his his devotion of Mary was was was really because of that maternal influence in his life, and if you take a look he's got the big basis his coat of arms every every bishop he's in Pope they we have coat coats of arms. You know I was born on the Southeast side of Chicago; the only coat of arms I had was long sleeves for the winter that was a coat of arms, but so now I had to get a coat of arms so so it you develop the basic coat of arms, and they they represent what things that you do or accomplish in your life or things that you're dedicated to and for JP2 he had the big M for basically Mary and what influences she in my life? Listen, I pray the rosary every day that's part part of my spiritual commitment, and if you don't say the rosary It's the most powerful prayer that you can have in your hands. You know that for yourself personally you don't basically you don't need the priest to say it. you know anybody else you you can say that devotion, and it's a powerful aspect in terms of prayer. I have fleur-de-lis on my coat of arms, and that's basically Mary because I taught at St.. Mary the Lake seminary bundling, so it's dedicated to Mary so important Without a doubt without a doubt anybody else? Yes!” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Can you tell me about your time in the military?” - man
“Sure 23 years in the military Schweinfurt, Germany, Honduras I was in basically with blazing trails exercise. Let me you a quick story about that in 1990. I was activated for Desert Storm I always wondered, you know, because the time in my life when I was in the seminary, I was exempt from military action, and I was exempt because it was a time of basically the Vietnam War. So, in my own sense, I almost felt a lot like Abraham and Isaac. I felt, you know, did I have it in me to give everything? Basically, from an aspect of faith in the country, did I have it in me to be able to do that? I was activated. So, I went in what they call palm exercising, and palm exercising is the ability to go into the country, and I was scheduled to go to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, because there was such a dearth of Catholic chaplains. So, my unit was not activated. I was at the 244th Aviation at the time. So, my unit was not activated, but I was activated. So, I was pulled out to do it for service to the country. What they did is they sent a reporter and a photographer around with me, Life Magazine did, and they were going to do basically a special on Chaplain Goes to War. Me, you know, I didn't ask for it. They just said, just going around. So, they followed me. They took pictures at St. Joe's Enrollment, where I went to. They took pictures of my unit, and my battle fatigues, and you know, basically all of that. It is now, I am scheduled to leave on Monday morning, and I'm Saturday, Sunday evening, Saturday evening, I'm scheduled to go Sunday morning. Saturday evening, I'm with the professors at the seminary, who were all my colleagues. They were having an evening with me, saying goodbye type of thing. You know, I'm packed and stuff. I get a call on Sunday morning that the land war started. I'm here, and the land war started. They started doing a number of scuds. They started shooting those, you know. So, the land war started going, so the land war started. So, I said: ‘Well, what happens?’ They said: ‘Well, you're frozen in place.’ They called me the next day, I said: ‘What's happening?’ They said: ‘you're going to, this is forces command, you're going to Dhahran.’ I said: ‘Okay,’ and you're going on Tuesday. They said: ‘Okay.’ So, they called me on Tuesday morning and said: ‘You're frozen in place.’ I got my desert fatigue and everything, so yeah, and they said: ‘You're frozen in place.’ I said: ‘Okay.’ They called me the next day, you're going to Riyadh. Now, on Wednesday evening, they said: ‘You're going to Riyadh.’ I said: ‘Okay.’ Thursday morning, you're going to Riyadh. They called me on Thursday morning. They said: ‘You're frozen in place.’ They called me Thursday afternoon and they said: ‘The land war's over on Peck.’ But, you know, I used the religious thing about Isaac and Abraham. You know, I felt that. I knew I was ready to go. Whatever was going to happen, you know, in whatever position I'd be put in to serve, I was ready. I was going. There was no doubt, not a single doubt in my mind about my ability to go and to serve and to be in country, to do it. But when I said I felt like Isaac and Abraham, if you remember, Abraham is told by God, take Isaac and take him up to the mountain, bind him, put him on the altar, and I want you to take his life. If you remember that from the Old Testament, I want you to take his life. And as Abraham brings back his knife, so-called angel comes, holds back, and God says: ‘No, untie him!’ I wanted, almost like God said: ‘I wanted to see if you'd fulfill it.’ I felt that about Desert Storm. Well, God was putting me in that position to say, are you ready? Will you do it? We can't do it. And in my own gut, I knew, yeah, I would do it. I'm set. The knife was all ready. The knife was ready to do whatever was supposed to be done. But God had other plans. But that was Desert Storm. But my 23 years in the military, I still get calls from individuals. I don't think, I can tell you, I don't think three weeks will go by that I don't get a call from somebody I didn't serve with in the military. Any of the positions that I served, I served the 86th ARCOM, the 85th Training Division, so I was there. And it's come in handy in the sense, you know, for me, when someone will say, well, yeah, Father, you don't know what it is to be, you can refer to me as Lieutenant Colonel if you'd like. Any other questions? Yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus

August 31st, 2026 (Continued): “Yeah. What's your journey to the priesthood? How did you know you wanted to be a priest? And like, also, what's your journey to becoming an archbishop? And how did you know that was the right path? - Hannah
“That was the And I rarely, I rarely tell my vocation story. And when I say that, I rarely tell it because whether you're talking to members of the family or people in the neighborhood that I was born and raised, I wanted to be a priest since I was either two and a half or three, depending upon who you want to talk to. You know, and I've never wanted to be anything else. My mother would like to be a doctor. My father would want me to be a lawyer. Well, I did become a lawyer, you know, but I was a priesthood, and with my mother, it was a year after I was ordained, I was looking at the Fifth Pathway, and I did studies in organic chemistry, thinking that maybe I would do the trifold thing, you know, do the three things. But it was never wavered in my mind about being a priest. It was always a priest, always a priest. And the reason I don't say that is because my classmate, I'm ordained with 38 others for Chicago. There were 38 in my class. There was a guy who was on a fast track in General Electric, GE, not GM, GE. He was on a fast track for GE. He was seven months away from being married, gives it up, goes into the seminary, and basically gets ordained a priest. I know, I know, you're looking at it. So individuals, you're saying that individuals, I don't want somebody scratching their head and saying, well, I didn't, two and a half or three, I didn't, I wasn't thinking about that. So I'm very cautious about saying that. As far as everything else, everything else is a, is basically a, is whether individuals kind of take a look at you. There's no, you can't try to politicize and try to get votes or something to be a bishop type of thing. Someone takes a look at you, thinks that you would be worthy or somebody that would be a job. When I, when I was named a bishop, I was named First Auxiliary Bishop in Chicago under Francis George. The Cardinal didn't even know that I was being named. The Cardinal, he got a call, I got called in. He said, you know, I, I thought he was getting called in because, you know, I, I had the in-house counsel and I, Canon law, so I thought he was asking me for some type of advice on something. Calls me in and he says, Jerry, he said, I said: ‘What?’ Tell me, you know, I'm, I'm beside myself. Kind of tell me what? He said, Jerry, the Holy See called this morning, you've been named a bishop. So, you know, and so I served, I served for four years in Chicago. And after that, I served as the Bishop of La Crosse. And that was also kind of strange. They just, they decided immediately to, that I would replace, I joke about this. I replaced, basically, Ray Burke, who was the former thing. Bishop Burke is now Cardinal Burke, and a good friend of mine is Cardinal Burke. And then, and then I left from La Crosse to Milwaukee and I replaced Dolan. It's Cardinal Dolan. So, if you want to be a Cardinal in the church, ask the church to have me replace you. So that all of a sudden you're immediately, you didn't have to be a Cardinal. But you, you, you don't know. In fact, it came, even, even the Milwaukee thing became, was kind of a, I was not in the running. Nobody had me listed as, you know, these people who are supposedly in the know-it-all, you know, they have this. There was a, there was a group, the nunciator, when he called me up, he told me, I said: ‘You know, I'm very happy in La Crosse. I'm sure you'll have a lot of other candidates.’ And the response was: ‘Bishop Listecki,’ I said: ‘Yes?’ And he said: ‘the Holy Father has made his decision. You are now the Archbishop of Milwaukee.’ I said: ‘Okay, I'm the Archbishop of Milwaukee.’ So, so you, it comes, it comes about as a, basically as a surprise. I'm sure there are individuals who take a look at you and kind of say, yeah, you know, you'd be a good candidate and kind of throw you out. But, but, but honestly, I tell you, the big thing is just, and I tell this to my priests, don't worry about looking at, you know, your next assignment or something. Just be a good priest. Just be a good, be a good priest and God will take care of the rest. God will take care of the rest. You know, gotta have a lot, that's what faith gives you, a lot of trust, trust in God. Anything else from anybody? Yes!” - Archbishop Emeritus

“I do, yeah, I do have. So you know, it's always interesting.
It was always interesting, you know, to do it. What I would do is, when I'd be out there, holy God, We Praise Thy name was at least a song that everybody knew. So that was one that we would always, always do.
And of course, you can imagine these guys being out in the field, you know, and imagine you know, 30 or 40 guys trying to sing: ‘Holy God, we praise thy name." You know, at the end of it, I' my remark was always, well, you're not the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Although later, in around 2016, I did direct the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. I was invited to do that, so I actually the Milwaukee Theater I did I was able to do that.
Any other questions, you know? Yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus

“My favorite hat in general, you, you know, strangely enough, I, in my life I never wore hats, but then, but I, but I, you know, you, you put the zucchetto on, so you got, that's that little, that little red, or whatever, I guess fuchsia or whatever they call that, you know, the color, you know, that red, that red color. And then of course there's the mitre, you know, that you wear, so you've got, you know, basically got the mitre. And then one that's not used very often, but, but I have this kind of beretta, you know, and it's got, and if you, you take a look, it's got corners. And if you're a doctor, I'm a doctor in the church, so I have four corners to it, plus the little ball in the middle. But most priests can wear just a beretta if they want, but nobody wears those, those things basically any longer. But my favorite hat is a stocking cap in a winter. I like, I like that. And I, I've got, I got my coat of arms on there too, so I got that one. So, that was an interesting question, yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“What do you miss most about Chicago?” - Guy
“I'm sorry?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“What do you miss most about Chicago?” - Girl closer to stage
“What do I miss most about Chicago? Well, you know, I, 54 years of my life was Chicago, so, and I'm a South Sider, no side but the South Side, so basically a South Sider. You know, I, you know, my, my sense is, you know, I, for my First Holy Communion, I only wanted one gift. Now, I told you I wanted to be a priest from the time I was two and a half to three. So, for my First Holy Communion, they said, well, what do you want for your First Holy Communion? You would think I would say a crucifix, a Bible, you know, rosary. There was only one gift that I wanted, and that was an autographed baseball by my favorite White Sox player, Minnie Miñoso. And I, and I got it. I got it. My uncle, my uncle was a police officer, a desk sergeant in Chicago, and one of his friends worked the dugout, and he got, he was able to get me Minnie's, Minnie's. But, but I, Chicago, Chicago will always be a special place in my heart because of the, because I was a boy growing up, you know, I did. I worked on the southeast side, so I tell you right now, if you, if you kind of think that it was, it was easy. I worked my, my high school years in the steel mills. So, I literally worked, I literally worked in the blast furnaces as a laborer, in the blast furnaces. So, so, and, and I was very grateful to God for the, for that experience because it was, taught me about, showed me a lot of the, the great, great dedication, great work that people had in order to support their families and stuff. So, certainly not, certainly, I can tell you, blast furnaces, not, not easy work. Dirty, hot, you know, so, but, but, so, the thoughts of Chicago always, you know, always, you know, great, great experiences, and obviously seminary years growing up..." - Archbishop Emeritus

August 31st, 2026: "...And then I had the privilege, I was only out six months as a priest, and I was put back into the seminary. I guess I didn't, I didn't fulfill anything really well, so, so I literally went back, back teaching in the seminary. I was dean at Quigley Preparatory Seminary North, and then sent away four years to Rome for, basically, doctorates, and then I came back and, and studied and taught at Mundelein Seminary for 17 years until I was appointed in 2000 as an auxiliary bishop. Or, actually, I was appointed parish priest, parish pastor. I loved that. I mean, that, that was a, that was a high point, right there, was being basically a pastor of the, basically a parish. I replaced four Jesuits, you know, so, at the, at the parish, so it was a great experience. And, and I was only there two months, and I was named, named a bishop, you know, a bishop. So, Chicago's got a great, great thing. I mean, one of the things, you know, that would, when guys would talk about, or go and hear about individuals having a difficult time in terms of confirmations, you go to a parish, and the average parish, you know, in, say, La Crosse, the average parish confirmation was 30.The average parish confirmation in Chicago was 80. So, you knew when you were average, so you knew when you were going to do a confirmation, you could be confirming 100, and 15, 120 kids. And, and that was a treat. And I, I did confirmations, anybody here confirmed by me?” - Archbishop Emeritus

“Holy cows, you know, you know, I, you know, I look at your, as you come up, I talk to you, as you came out to be confirmed.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“I sang in a bunch of stuff with you.” - Girl
“What?” - Archbishop Emeritus
“I'm a singer, I've sang at a lot of stuff that you've been at.” - Girl
“She sings at your events. She sang at a lot of your confirmations.”- Woman closer to stage
“Oh, sang at a lot, but who was confirmed by me? Yeah. You were confirmed by me. Yeah. Well, then, then you know I was, I, I, I look directly, everybody kind of thinks it's, it's so long that it's like five, I talk to the individuals for five minutes when I do it. It's actually only about a minute and a half. I ask them their confirmation name, I ask them a, a, a few things, but that, that's a, that's a real treat. It is, it's a real treat to, to do confirmations, it really is. Well, thank you for those who confirm. Now, you better practice, if I confirm, you better practice! Yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Has anyone picked St. Lawrence, your confirmation saint?” - Woman closer to stage
“Oh, there's individuals that have taken, taken Lawrence, yeah, but individuals take, I like individuals to choose their own confirmation name. I like them to do that, so that's, that's really good. I, I think you, you get a little connection, you get a connection to it at that time. Yeah, so, yes.” - Archbishop Emeritus
“Maybe just one last question to wrap up. In the context of ecclesiology, what do you think is the value of getting involved in a local parish as a young adult?” - Woman
“Essential, to being involved in the local parish is essential. So, always try to find your connection to basically the, the, the parish. And the parish, all parishes are different, but they'll help form you. And I, I know, you know, I, I was in the same situation that most of you are in, and I know that your schedules and stuff vary and differ. But the wonderful thing about, about going to basically a local parish is, is there's a vast array of different things that you can choose. And usually, there's, I, I can probably tell you after about three weeks or four weeks, there'll be somebody who'll say, hey, I saw you last Sunday in church, or I was there, and they'll start to talk to you and you'll have basically a little bit of a connection. But in terms of ecclesiology, that's the assembly. That's, that's the local group that you're basically involved in. And we, we have some wonderful parishes here in the archdiocese. So, and if you can't find it there at the parish and you're not being fed, there's another one that's fairly close. So, so always do that. God bless all of you. Thank you so much!” - Archbishop Emeritus
Throughout the talk, I occasionally saw Hannah looking at me a few times during the talk and she hardly sipped her beer, Hannah, Bonaventure and I talked a bit learning that Bonaventure is 27. I was able to get a selfie with the Archbishop with Catejean in the background for them. I offered to drink the rest of Hannah’s New Glarus pale ale (she somehow thought it was too sreal womang) but me and Bonaventure debated on it for a bit but he was driving home and I wasn’t so I chugged the rest of it as we made it to the car. I was a bit tipsy and way more talkative during the ride, mentioning the Martyrs of Otranto otherwise known as Saints Antonio Primaldo and his Companions for being the largest confirmed group of martyrs who all were killed by Ottoman invaders. After Hannah got dropped off, I talked with the guy a bit more and he mentioned that he would be relocated to Saudi Arabia for his company to help with The Line if not for the Iran war. I asked him:
“But what about the complete absence of churches there.”
He told me that there were lots of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia who run house churches, but they didn’t advertise it at all, only by word of mouth and through building trust well, I got out and took a shower in my apartment. I started day 27 of my 54 day rosary novena at 9:41pm and completed it at 10:04pm. Actually think about it, it’s pretty nifty that I completed the first half (in petition part) just as August ends so I’ll work on the second half (in thanksgiving part) as September starts. I watched a video on cats in a cat shelter so I drunkenly googled at 10:37pm:

>Is it ok to neuther cats in Catholicism?
Turns out you can neuter a cat.

Song of the Day: End of August - Noah Kahan (2026)

September 1st, 2026: Awoken at 6:33am to a NPR story about the people who were present at Charlie Kirk’s assassination last year. I got up and had cereal and coffee after getting out of bed. Yesterday in the TradCath Signal chat someone mentioned that they could either join this Kenosha, Wisconsin team or our team, I replied to them:
>Don’t join discount Chicago, play Team [our team].
He wasn’t happy and thus the conversation continued:
<Hhmm.. I've never heard my hometown called "discount Chicago" before. Surely you've got better nicknames than that? - Kenoshan
<St louis is the real discount chicago 😁- Adam II
<Buenos Aires was the discount Paris - Maaenboodhoo

>I’m sorry for comparing your city to Gary, Indiana.
<Thats like fire sale clearance not discounted Gemerson - Adam II
<*Berlin - Karelusa
I was on my computer working on getting Turboscribe to work with the 69 minute long audio I record into 3 separate files to transcribe, for the 2nd one, I forgot to enable identifying people speaking which messed it up and it had a weird issue with randomly capitalizing the first letter in words that weren’t at the beginning of sentences. I got that completed pretty fast and then prepared for my interview call with this company. I posted asking for September birthdays in the groupchat and mentioned mine’s September 8th, someone said Karelusa’s mom’s is September 4th and the Kenoshan pointed out mine’s the same day as the Blessed Virgin Mary. I left my apartment at 12:50pm to head to the college library to have my interview there in a secluded place with functioning air conditioning. I was almost there when I realized I left my wallet at home and I walked back in the severe heat. As I was walking home. I spotted Mady getting to the room, I sped up my walking a bit to talk to her, I told her about Waleran moving in and she asked me:
“Do you have any cats?”
I said no and she explained that her cats would meow at the door because the neighbors had a cat. She called her roommate her girlfriend which I noticed and then got inside for my job interview. I had no idea what the job did at 2:00pm. From what I could gather while pay attention to the guy, it was helping out AT&T at a grocery store by analyzing and reporting on what the salespeople did and how they could improve, plus helping AT&T customers with their tech issues, We had Tuesdays and Wednesdays off as I had to pretend that I didn’t like that. Initially I was applying to the Pewaukee, Wisconsin position but after some talk, he said that I should apply to the Grafton, Wisconsin position, I think that there’s some others closer by but they’re all staffed. I had to charge my laptop during it and after some talk it ended. I had to take a picture for my photo so I got out the camera and took this:
1788406771068.jpeg

and I went head all the way down to the stadium for training, I had to wear my vinyl jacket due to the rain, I arrived at 4:21pm and read the instructions on how to get in. This woman at the front who had been working there ever since 1999 told me to look down for the entrance to the gate yet I went east and then inside to ask another woman inside to say where to go, she told me the elevators down to the service level worked but I couldn’t get them to work so I went outside all the way to the back when this guy finally told me the directions and gave me a printed out map to follow. I did that and entered where the vehicles were. I got let in by security and walked a long way to where new hires were to meet. I got into a room and got seated for the long talk. I hardly remember most of the many rules including how most situations involve deflecting to a supervisor, the complex amount of apps you need and how I’ll probably start off as ticketing for years, and the very strict no player interactions rule, where you can’t even wave at a player after the game due to their need to spend time with their family, the only exception being if they talk to you first. There was some water bottles and chips they gave out that I had after the event had ended. I was just so exhausted and was regretting everything until we were finally let out at 8:05pm, we went to get our outfits and stuff, my ID compressed the photo I sent to be a square and it looked hilarious.
1788406771081.jpeg

As I was walking home with Nathan M, I asked him if he lived in my neighborhood but he said no, he also got this job because he needed one and his father worked here. I walked all the way to the bus and got on until my transfer and then waited for my bus home. When I got back, Waleran and his friend were in the living room and I went instantly to shower and then wash dishes. I started day 28 of my 54 day rosary novena at 10:48pm and completed it at 11:14pm due to my computer refusing to get out of sleep mode and it requiring an update when I turned it off and on, fun.

Song of the Day: Wake Me Up When September Ends - Green Day (2004)

September 2nd, 2026: Awoken at 6:30am to something about schools being canceled due to heat and another thing to do with steam. I turned my alarm off and then got breakfast. I got on the internet to browse it a bit and upload more soyjaks mostly, more of the Thai provinces, I had noticed that a lot of the province flags would often use famous buildings from each province, it would be like if the flag of Utah included the Salt Lake Utah Temple, the flag of Idaho included the Cataldo Mission of the Sacred Heart, the flag of Tennessee included Graceland, or the flag of Wisconsin included the Wisconsin State Capitol, oh wait, that’s on the flag of Madison, Wisconsin. I packed up a bit to head to the library again for an interview I wanted, I got packed with most of my stuff in my backpack before walking all the way to the busy building. I bought some popcorn chicken for lunch and ate it with barbeque sauce. I spotted Khadija walking while I was sitting down to eat, which made me paranoid of being spotted by someone who knows me and would think I’m weird and creepy for going on campus as someone who’s already graduated, I dressed the part as a student, kinda but the only person to see me was Seraphim, he said hi to me and he told me he was going to the gym and he was glad to see me. I went into the library to stay at my usual spot for most of the time, I signed up for Aella’s new website called Study of us where you submit your picture to be rated and then rate the pictures of others. I got this picture from Cara sent to me:
1788489082542.jpeg

I replied back and started the conversation:

>May I kidnap him?
<No
<He’s my baby

>This is kinda like 9/11
>May I kidnap your other cat?

<BHAHAH
<No
<They’re all mine

>Please.
>I have no cats…

<Go get one
<NOT mine

>May I at least see the cat.

Sadly no response. I then walked back home and got a Monster energy drink. On the way there was this lone Black guy doing construction work on a house nearby and he was playing rap music from speakers. I got home and then at 3:30pm, I was called for the job interview. It turns out that I couldn’t do it because it needed me to drive a car so she told me to apply later when I get one. I didn’t go to Eucharistic adoration today after eating 4 eggs in scrambled eggs style because I felt sick a good amount and almost like throwing up. I spent a lot of time on the computer and Waleran got back from architecture classes. I went to shower and then I started day 29 of my 54 day rosary novena at 10:48pm and completed it at 11:08pm while I washed some of the many dishes that were present before heading to bed.

Song of the Day: DONNY DARKO - Don Toliver, Lil Uzi Vert (2024)

September 3rd, 2026: Another day of nothing. I woke up early and there was nothing of note for most of the day. I had cereal and coffee for breakfast and then got to work online, well looking at the jobs I applied to. I was informed of a morning adoration event today followed by morning prayer so I walked over there at 7:25am. I got in and sat down in prayer for the time, but as it went on, the storms started and I could hear some loud thunder. As it concluded silently at 9:00am, I heard some raining sound like a gutter outside and went to see that there was rain coming in through the steeple onto the red carpet ground, I tried pointing it out the first time but Father Aquinas just dismissed it, I went back to pray near the back and saw all the people there like Melany, Rita, Nikki, Cronstedt, the 2 new missionaries, Jade, Agaw, Swifte, and a few others. During morning prayer when I didn’t have a book, Melany came over to me and asked for my number, I gave it to her, she just texted me the link to the readings. When we got out people actually took issue with the rain seeping in through the steeple, we realized it was an issue when Father Aquinas went down to grab some metal trays to catch the water when I suggested buckets. Jade went downstairs and got one. I went downstairs for the coffee social afterwards and for a bit it was mostly the women at the coffee bar while the men were sitting at these couches elsewhere, I talked with them a bit and with this freshman. I eventually saw Oriang come in and said hi to her, she told me she got a new job teaching middle schoolers, I was about to tell her that I was having multiple interviews tomorrow but I was ignored as she went to talk to the priest. I drank more coffee and found out Nephri posted asking for help apartment hunting in the county west. I found something that worked and was $150 under her maximum budget. I went back to get my coffee with white chocolate flavoring in it and Oriang actually listened to me this time. I talked with Agaw for a while and the first thing she asked me was:
“Are you still dating Kateri?”
I told her she broke up with me, she was a bit sad. I drank a second cup of coffee and heard that Nikki had to leave for a doctor’s appointment, I asked if she could drop me off at home because I had my interview at 11:40am. I left a bit later while it was drizzling but it picked up more on the walk home. I was drenched by the time of the interview which was extremely short and just a brief overview of the thing on Zoom. I then spent most of the day just lounging around, it was still raining so I didn’t want to go outside. I tried signing up for this dating app called Upward but a crash while making my account resulted in an error that resulted in my phone number being unavailable for use. I signed up for two more dating apps which worked slightly better. I also got an additional interview scheduled for tomorrow and another one on Monday, September 14th in the county over in person. Waleran told me that his girlfriend would be coming over and I got to meet her for the first time, I made the last 2 sausages for dinner and then used the pan to cook 2 eggs worth of scrambled eggs and ate it. I went back into my room and after showering quite early at 8:10am I started day 30 of my 54 day rosary novena at 8:40pm and completed it at 9:03pm. Also some girl on Snapchat let her friend hold her phone and the friend sent me a message saying to fuck her friend or whatever. I conversed with my mom about some plans:

>I’ll be heading back later on Saturday and staying until midday Tuesday. I’ll be taking the car to [city] for a talk I want to attend and then driving back home.
<What car?
>Whichever one I can borrow.
<Oh, you're asking to borrow the car.
<Have you tried to make a dentist appointment yet? You haven't been to the dentist in years.

>Yes
<When is the dentist appointment?
I didn’t plan it yet. And Waleran and his girlfriend were in their room but I didn’t hear them having sex. Thank God.

Song of the Day: Singin’ in the Rain - Taco (1983)

September 4th, 2026: 4 job interviews today. I woke up at 6:30am and got some cereal with coffee. I had to get dressed in my white button-up for the job interview. I spotted Waleran’s girlfriend out and doing the dishes, I just went back inside my room for the interview starting at 8:40am, I was first in a room with one over interviewee and was told off by the interviewer for not turning my camera on while it was still firing up, I was assigned to a breakout room on Zoom where the Black guy there talked about the pay being on a weekly basis and after they accept my offer, they would give me their address in the county over, seriously… I knew they were going to accept me but it was such an obvious scam that I would not be taking up their offer. The next interview was at 10:00am for a chemical manufacturing company, I lied about pretending to know a lot about the company, which mainly focuses on chemicals used for water treatment, I got done at 10:30am and texted the groupchat at 10:53am:
>2/4 down, 1 is an obvious scam…
Maaenboodhoo replied:
<Time to start your own business
Zhao replied:
<Become a YouTuber and post memes
The third interview was at 11:00am for this printing company, it was a far drive away for me if I were to be hired but it was just an internship that was paid hopefully. I got done at 11:20am and played more Mindustry and I had some ramen for lunch while waiting for my last interview while Waleran’s girlfriend was here getting ramen. The fourth and final interview was at 1:00pm for a 3D printing support company, where I’d be trained to do tech support for companies who 3D print things, the office was the closest to me thankfully and I talked with the interviewer, who looked more disinterested and unprepared for the interview than I was, I could see a ring on his finger and a bookshelf off to the right, all companies said that they would get back to me by next week. I got out and walked around a bit, also writing more in my blog. Yor announced this dance at 8:00pm tonight so I got dressed to go to that, I thought I might be going too formal but I took the bus down still. At 6:40pm, I had the misfortune of Punk’s friend walking in front of me, we didn’t talk to each other. I got on the bus and this super deformed pooner with a sympathy stick sat next to me so I moved to the back of the bus, I took it all the way down and then sadly got off at the same stop as the gender specials. I walked a bit until it was around 7:15pm when I had 10 chicken nuggets and a dragon fruit pomegranate RedBull for dinner at McDonalds, I remember them playing R.E.M. over the loudspeaker. I left with my drink and walked around more to fill out SuperLocalMaps, I had actually been to this part of the city on a photo walk for Wikipedia in August 2024 and had only uploaded like half of those photos. I eventually got to the place at 8:00pm and following Yor’s advice, went in to only see old men and women dancing. I went out and walked around a bit as I almost got run over on the sidewalk. I eventually went back in to see Yor with mostly old people so I left, I got back to this funky intersection but I messed my sense of direction up and walked south for a bit until correcting course. If I had been correct with my navigation of going west instead, I would not miss the bus home. By the time the bus got me back home, it was past my usual shower time. I started day 31 of my 54 day rosary novena at 10:05pm and completed it at 10:05pm before heading to sleep.

Song of the Day: Stand - R.E.M. (1988)

September 5th, 2026: Mixed bag today. I woke up at 6:00am and got dressed to take the bus down to my usual church at 6:50am, I arrived quite early for the book sale set up and just wandered around until I got back at 7:50am to see a long line of cars waiting for the automatic gate to open. I was about to ask Maaenboodhoo where to get in but he called one of the four priests he had the phone number for, but not the abbot who would obviously be here, we got in a little after 8:00am and Salignac joined us, we went to the cafeteria to set up white fold-out tables. Maaenboodhoo and Salignac were carrying one while I grabbed another by myself which was coated with chalk and got me dirty, I had to dust off my outfit before getting back to table setup. After positioning some cafeteria tables back into place. We worked on moving the books in cardboard boxes typically used for holding paperwork, others were taking up 2 at a time while I got 3 every time, it wasn’t that heavy and when we were done, Maaenboodhoo asked Salignac to use her artistic abilities to arrange the objects brought up like some tiny statues and a few pieces of iconography. I mentioned not being here for tomorrow. I got in for mass after donating $20 for a large paperback on the papacy. I attended the mass held by the older French priest who let us in. I didn’t go up for the Eucharist but I spotted the woman who I thought might be one of Asherah’s sisters and I got out and held the door for a few people. I tried to get Maaenboodhoo to drive me to the coffee social at first but I couldn’t reach him and walked to the bus before he got back to me and asked. I thought I had a date at 12:00pm so I said no I couldn’t. I took the bus back home and cleaned up my apartment a bit before writing in my blog and uploading more blogposts. My date told me that her car’s transmission was shot so she’d have to ask to borrow her brother’s car, she needed to wait a while before he would lend it to her, she told me her ETA was 1:45pm but only ended up arriving at the pizza place to get food at 2:20pm after I had ran there. She got out and I hugged her, she was much shorter and fatter than me, at 5’2” and like 275lbs according to her and we went in. I ordered this deal where we both got 2 slices of pizza with 2 garlic knots and 2 sodas, I then guided her to my place and we parked as we saw these Black teenagers making out on a bench and walked away. We got inside and sat at the dining table for a bit and talked, my roommate wasn’t here so I didn’t have to worry about him at all. I then asked her to sit on my lap for a bit on the recliner and then later moved into the bedroom to cuddle. We took each other’s clothes off and at this point I realized that she was a pitbeard (doesn’t shave her armpits) and was kind of disgusted. We tried some more cuddling positions in the kinda hot room. At one point I tried sleeping on top of her while using her breast as a pillow (they were so large that you could fully hold one in two hands) and fell asleep for a bit until I woke up and kinda smelled like cat litter (she doesn’t own a cat) so we played some more Mario Kart Retro Rewind, she made a few motions to try and have sex with me but I ignored those thankfully until 4:05pm when I asked her to drive me to the bus stop and she did with my suitcase and backpack to drop me off. I took it to my home starting at 5:10pm in front of some ghetto women before being picked up by my dad. I got home to see my mom, my sister, and 2 of her friends present including Hilda. We had dinner together as my mom suddenly decided to be Catholic and say grace for us all. I later went up to my room and I started day 32 of my 54 day rosary novena at 9:19pm and completed it at 9:43pm after getting off track due to my sister and her friends discovering where the nice cat was to cuddle with and taking the cat up to my room.
