the thing is theres like 500 hundred other literal whos in that chat and if garf and modder made a "non hecking shroot approved steam gc" they would have been banned anyways, nobody wants to share it with these random people, and steam is incredibly bad when it comes to communication (messages get deleted after some time, links dont properly work, videos wont load)

The problem isn't that there *is* a groupchat, it is that they were (likely, considering the modder being banned temporarily situation) coordinating through said groupchat in reference to the site, which means they were potentially causing needless drama etc.
