/qa/ was the cornerstone of zoomer counterculture. Back in 2020, most /qa/ users were around 16, that means 2003-2005 zoomers. During this time there was also a global pandemic in which there was basically constant media attention on
>EAT THE BUGS, YOU WILL OWN NOTHING, PUT ON ZE MASK, TAKE 30 EXPERIMENTAL BOOSTER SHOTS
All this along with a constant pushing for the new tik tok, and other short form content. /qa/ was a break from this, a small place in an anonymous site in which the constant rhetoric was challenged with soyjaks, and where short form content was hated and blogposting was incentivized.
However, modern sharty has kind of the contrary and the same at the same time: the userbase remains around 16, but that means they are 2008 zoomers. If you wanna know my opinion on 2008 zoomers, they are fucking subhuman attention span goblins that want a new hit every second. And now, instead of being a counterculture of escapism, there's a counterculture of edgyness. Modern sharty thrives on bait, it's more common now than ever, more radicalized, some may find comfort in the ridiculousness of it all, but the newcaca take it too seriously and start involving it in real life.
Modern sharty is culturally signinficant, all the right wing twitter users are unknowingly using sharty memes (i.e. smugjak, awards, soyspeak)
