The historical way Christianity "changed" was by expanding and developping without undoing or going against what was before, it's the ptinciple of Holy Tradition. The Church gets "richer" as time goes on.
And then there's changing by undoing everything that was before and becoming a DNB because you abandon all your principles and nobody respect you anymore.
