I don't think you should. I know nothing about programming but even if you put the politics aside it's still emerging and you shouldn't base everything off of that. Most people don't have the brainpower to start with something like that anyway, they learn shit like Python or Java to get fundamental concepts down and then move on to more advanced ones. Or you could just say "fuck it" and go with C.
