Gaza is one city doe and it's hard to occupy a country overseas. Russia is confused and they have no proper strategy over than taking a village once in a while. If you look at previous wars you'd see how armed forces deliberately take cities of strategic importance and bypass or encircle ones that they don't really need to waste resources on

Or something. I'm not an actual general
The Russian syrategy is deliberately slow and grinding, that way the land they do take doesn't have any mention of unrest or other such societal issues

I meant if Israel invaded Ukraine. I know Gaza is literally next to it
Isreal messed up by trapping in the gazans and goving them nowhere to flee
Russian generals understand if you can put enough pressure on a city but deliberately leave a exit corridor you can effectively prevent stalingrad-like stands on cities
Optimally you control that corridor so you can attrition any heavy equipment enemy forces may try to withdraw

There's literally no comparison to be made between these wars. Russia-ukraine is 2 civilized countries fighting over real things while israel-palestine is a group of uncivilized sewerdwelling sandnoobs with cold war era weapons fighting a group of uncivilized sandnoobs that got modern weapons donated to them over who has the best God.
Gaza is more of a humanitarian disaster than a real war

Bakhmut was a good example on why this is a stupid idea. If you cut off a city then it's under siege and would eventually surrender and if not then make it easier to attack it. Leaving an exit corridor is also leaving an entrance for more reinforcements and supplies which you don't want when you're trying to advance further
