I saw a post that made this bold claim.

basically saying that any fuzzy memories as a kid = being raped

I still dont understand why the concept of repressed memories are so prevalent, knowing that science proved it to be completely bullshit, and most attempts at rebuttal are just based on anectodal evidence.

i suffer from ocd, and i was fucking terrified at the thought i saw and or did something wrong but my mind repressed it, however when i discovered repressed memories as a concept are made up, that was a huge relief.

i know i sound like a soyak but when you make bold dummyed claims like that, you are hurting people o algo

Also, being raped as a kid doesnt make you always right, cacaot.

Didn't read but there was a study done decades ago that many psychologists were accidentally leading their patients on with revealing so called "repressed memories". During the rise of the practice and reports of quite revolting things being unearthed, many began to unearth memories of complete bulldada that never happened, leading to a nation-wide rise in reports of childhood trauma involving cults, abuse and rape. Of course upon further inspection most if not all of these cases once ran through proof-checking came up as nonsense, as many couldn't have happened due to a variety of factors. For that reason psychologists and therapists don't really engage in the practice anymore, as to avoid gaslighting people into pursuing legal action for things that never happened. Side-note: The many reports of cults is what fueled the Satanic panic during its earliest years.
