Chapter 2: Decisions

Marco got up and asked: "96% capacity? What do you mean?"

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will answered. "It means that your interstice is almost completely filled to the brim with your Soya Essence primeval sea, so you have a much higher reserve of Soya Essence, and your speed of replenishing Soya Essence is also considerably higher compared to someone with lower capacity."

Marco smirked. "That is to be expected, it seems that it is my fate to be a great 'Jakker expert, maybe I will even be a venerable!"

"Kid, do you think that just your aptitude is enough? There are far more important things for cultivation." Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will scoffed.

How ignorant was this mortal, to think he could become a great expert or even a venerable? It seemed like this mortal was injected with chicken's blood!

Marco ignored him and attempted to feel his interstice. It was a numb sensation, but he tried to move it around.

Eventually, after a while of doing nothing, he reluctantly asked: "Old man, how do I cultivate?"

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will smirked. "I see, you are finally learning to respect your elders! The core of cultivation is using your Soya Essence to refine the walls of your interstice. When you cannot refine them any longer, you must focus your Soya Essence to break through them. That is how you go up in rank, at least while you're still a mortal."

Marco replied blankly: "Okay, but how do I do that?"

"You must focus on your interstice, try to feel it. It shouldn't be that hard for you, as your aptitude is very high."

Marco nodded and he focused on his interstice, at first, it was like the numb sensation he felt before.

It took some time, but he eventually got to the point where he could feel his interstice clearly.

"Old man, I can feel it now. But how do I refine the walls like you said?" Marco said excitedly.

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will answered: "It is simple, you must move your Soya Essence around inside of your interstice. The waves crashing against your interstice walls is the refinement process!"

Marco started making waves with his primeval sea in his interstice, he could feel that the refinement process was happening.

"Don't forget, kid. Cultivation is a slow process! Even with your talent, it will take at least two or three weeks before you can advance to rank two, and it will only get slower after that! Cultivation is not something you can rush. But you are lucky, I sense no variant humans here. 3 million years ago, even though Genesis Soot Immortal Venerable had set up the Glycine Court, variant humans were still oppressing us humans!"

What he had said was true. 4 million years ago, before any of the venerables, the variant human species oppressed humanity. But Fate sided with humanity, it chose Genesis Soot Immortal Venerable to lead humanity to the top of the world! Despite this, up until 2 million years ago, humans were still widely oppressed by the variant human species. It was not until the era of Red Star Immortal Venerable that humans truly overtook variant humans.

However, Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will did not know this. He had died far before Red Star Immortal Venerable appeared. His knowledge was very limited. The same could be said about his knowledge on cultivation.

In the modern era, cultivation had been studied by humans for over 4 million years, it was much more meticulous and planned out than in the era of Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch. The same could be said for 'Jaks, there were much more complicated 'Jaks in the modern era.

Marco was confused. "Variant humans? What is a variant human? I have never heard of such creatures."

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will got angry. "Ignorant fool... Look, let me explain. Long ago, before Genesis Soot Immortal Venerable, the world was dominated by 8 variant human races, variant humans are dumber and have strange behaviours, and they enslaved humans. The 8 variant human races are: the clovermen, the cordmen, the xittermen, the foodmen, the real womanmen, the liarmen, the blackmen and the glowmen."

Marco nodded. "I understand."

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will kept going and boasted: "When I was a 'Jakker, I used to be the slave of a cloverman. Clovermen are far more arrogant than humans, he thought I was never a threat to him; when I had achieved rank 5, I killed him and escaped. After that, I became a lone cultivator and then ascended into an immortal. I kept cultivating, and I eventually wiped out the clan of the cloverman who had enslaved me. I settled into their territory, and I called it Fruit Ridge."

Marco kept listening. "Hmm..."

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will smirked. "You should refine some 'Jaks so that you are not defenseless. Simply unlocking your interstice does not make you physically sreal womanger, it only gives you the ability to use Soya Essence. Some 'Jaks are hard to refine, but my Fruit Path is rather simple. You can make a 'Jak out of any fruit! What kinds of fruits do you have on this hill?"

Marco thought. "Hmm, my father and I grow oranges. Do you have a recipe for an Orange 'Jak?"

"Of course I do. Fruit Path 'Jaks can be divided into two categories, bare Fruit 'Jaks and specialized Fruit 'Jaks. Making a bare Fruit 'Jak, you simply have to combine a specific quantity of fruits with Soya Stones. However, to make a specialized Fruit 'Jak, you must combine the bare Fruit 'Jak with other things... You'll learn it as you go along." Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will was fed up with explaining things to Marco.

Marco thought to himself: "Since I am already at this Soya Spring, I guess I should pick up a few Soya Stones."

He then said: "Old man, how much Soya Stones and fruits do I need to make a rank 1 bare Fruit 'Jak?"

Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will responded. "You need around 25 to 50 Soya Stones. It's better if you use more, the chance of refinement increases that way. Go inside of the spring, you will be able to spot Soya Stones."

Marco entered the spring. Now that he had awakened his interstice, he did not feel the same invisible barrier that he did the first time. It was akin to simply walking on water for him.

He eyed his surroundings and saw a few Soya Stones. He picked them up under the instruction of Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will. After a few dozen minutes of gathering, he had accumulated 62 essence stones.

He got out of the spring and started walking home. It had gotten dark, after all, it had been a very long day.

Marco arrived home and knocked on the door. His father greeted him. "Marco, where have you been? It's so late."

Marco responded truthfully. "Father, I have found the inheritance of an Immortal great expert from 3 million years ago, I am now a 'Jakker! I have decided to embark on an adventure and cultivate."

Both Marco's father and Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will were shocked, Marco's father from this information and Fruit Ridge Immortal Monarch's will from how direct Marco was.

Marco's father reluctantly nodded. "I... Understand, son. But are you sure about this? Not everyone has the capabilites to be a 'Jakker, we are just ordinary mortals. Are you sure that this is the path you want to pursue?"

Marco answered without a hint of hesitancy in his voice: "Father, I am serious, this is the path I want to pursue! The path of cultivation, ascending beyond the heavens, it is what I was born for! If I do not cultivate, what else can I do in life? Will I just live in this mortal hut forever? And what will I do if a 'Jakker comes and takes my life for no reason, what will I do if an Immortal decides to destroy this entire hill? There is absolutely nothing I can do!"

"For these reason, I am sure about this! I will definitely be a 'Jakker, I will be an Immortal, I will break through the heavens and carve my way to the top."

"I am sure of it, there is nothing that can stop me!"

"I will be a Venerable!"
It's a little shorter than the first one. As again, I am very open to criticism.

Hello. I'm sorry for not writing but I had two very hard things happen in my life back to back. A very important person was taken from me and I had a heart surgery. I am very sorry but I won't be able to write any longer, if anyone here wants to continue on my behalf, you are free to do so.
Jesus man, hope you're alright
