Cows, pigs, chicken, everything that has that in it is a product of our contact with foreign peoples and is very unlikely that if colonization hadn't happened these animals would have been integrated in our national cuisine in the way that they have.
I just accept my dual heritage and culture that is the product of it. If I only enjoyed the foreign then I wouldn't engage with our culture at all or only very select parts of it, also you're implying that foreign empires can't regard foreign peoples as their own, something that if were true then no human civilization would have integrated any other people other than those already belonging to the tribe.
National lines often transcend race if this wasn't the case then any nation with more than one racial group would have collapsed already. How we look is often overlooked when we share a culture, a language and a shared history. Not all Iberians hate mexicans and it often is the result of our resentfulness over an inevitability instead of focusing on what we have on common.
