/vp/ - Pokémon

How do they even churn these games out anymore? Last I checked there were 800+ pokemans, each with its own high polygon count model and moveset and animations that have to be made. It only gets harder every generation, almost exponentially. New hardware which means the old models have to be updated or scrapped, new moves, I don't get it
I'd have to assume it's like in racing games where they still use models from games 20 years prior and just update them with better texturing and the models benefitting from an improved lighting engine in-game. Forza Motorsport 8 got exposed for recycling car models from Forza 1 for the original Xbox, and given how lazy Game Freak usually is I'd bet there's still plenty of models being carried over from Gen 6

I like this change of perspective.

I had a dream one of these days that the gen 3 remake happened during the black and white era instead of in the 3ds.

Also that reminds me, gen 9 pretty much came and went without any remakes, just spinoffs. That's a first in a long time. Although it's more of a console thing

I got a shiny Deino with less than 300 hatches. Only like 25% of hunts are faster than that

This 20 year old game looks better than ZA

i liked playing the card game when i was a kid. i had home consoles and all the main ones were on portable consoles like gba and ds. worst part is the first pokemon game i got to play was Pokemon Go which i think devolved the series into the slop it is today.

NGL I'm surprised Pokemon Showdown is still a thing, I thought 'tendie would've raped it into oblivion at this point
There was a reason for it to exist since there hasn't been an official "competitive" pokemon game since the wii. The nintendo lawyers will obviously knock on their doors soon now that champions exists evendoe it's gacha noobhell and not at all a competitive viable game since there isn't even 6v6.

i think i spent over hundreds in my parent's money asking them for pokemon cards for over 10 years and now i dont even care about these things [neutralplier]
