Max Payne 1 and 2, mostly for the story rather than the gameplay itself
L4D2 is excellent too, but really only with friends
Quake because it's simple and fun to go through on Hard/Nightmare when you have nothing else to do. I've heard people say Wolf3D was the simplest an FPS can get and while that's true Quake is the simplest you can get whilst still being fun for long periods of time.

I can't play it anymore as modern Android versions don't support 32-bit (ARMV7) apps, but I grew up on the old ass Pocket Edition of Minecraft and it was awesome. This was the final update before infinite worlds were added, I think. Back then the developers would tease new features on Twitter and people were hyped about SNCA stuff that we take for granted today (minecarts, the Nether, fishing)

I really did try to get it working on my modern phone but it won't budge. Even the GSI/AOSP variant of Android I run has dropped support for these old apps. My phone's CPU technically has 32-bit support since it's Cortex-A76/A55 but I don't know how to tinker with kernel shit.

I don't get the people that soy over older versions of PE, b1.7.3 and release 1.2.5 mogs this shit any day
Is it because it's limited? I assume that's what the appeal is grounded in, since that's really the only possible one concerning these versions.

It's what I grew up on. I didn't have a desktop capable of running the Java edition until I was like 15 kek

I grew up with the 360 version and honestly it was fine. Just that. I think the biggest problem asides from the limitations when it comes to these versions are the controls. I do not think that Minecraft plays well on a controller or on a touchscreen.
