console gayming general

General thread
only benefit of them is that they're the closest thing to what a modern x86 palmtop would be without resorting to using a shitty arm cpu

although i say that despite the steam deck being the only handheld pc that has controls that can somewhat replace an actual mouse & keyboard because gay noobs cant just copy the 2 trackpad system from the steam deck
I mean you can just buy a Steam Controller now
Actually IDK if you can they might be backordered kek

having to set down a handheld to then connect a controller to it defeats the entire purpose of it being handheld but ig it doesn't matter since if you were to use anything other than steam os you probably wouldn't have access to a virtual keyboard in the same way steam os has its setup

He suggested Nokia cozied up to Windows Phone
I had bought one of the window phones around 2013 (basically the green one in picrel) but I hardly used it outside of work and mostly used an iphone 4

My Grandpa had a Lumia 800 back in the day. Yeah the thing had no apps but I guess it was fine for him since he mostly just took calls and sometimes used the web browser. When I was bored I'd sometime play the Sonic 4 demo on his phone a million times to kill time

windows 8's ui looks nice on the windows phone and xbox 360/one
On Windows Phone it works well, it's almost as if an interface that was designed with small touchscreens in mind will do well with small touchscreens in mind. It's also starting fresh, it's not stapling a whole phone interface onto an existing desktop interface like what Win8 was doing with the UWP Metro apps/Start Screen and the rest of Windows.
On Xbox... No. HELL NO. #BringBackBlades

Playstation home was fun as hell. It was legit like the same experience you'd get going to a mall when those existed. It had a fuck ton of fun mini games and shit and I remember spending a beyond dummyed amount of hours at the pirates of the Caribbean area and sinking noobs with my ship. It's something that could have only been done with PS3 era early internet consoles, if they did it today it would probably suck.

I was a 360 kid growing up so going to my family friend’s house and seeing PlayStation Home made me so fucking jealous and I’d just spend hours at a time dicking around in it. Unfortunately I didn’t get a PS3 until pretty late in its lifetime so I never got much time with it, which is a shame because now I’m a guy with a credit card and plenty of cash to spend on useless shit there.

In retrospect, I should’ve asked for a 360 instead of a PS3 back in the day. It had exclusives that were more up my alley anyway (my parents had a hard time justifying Sonic Generations, how the fuck would they justify me playing Gears or Halo even though that’s such a soft M game)
