Why are free games on steam so shit

Now I do have the money to buy games but I prefer not to because I'm a greedy liar, so I resort to downloading free games. Problem is, the free games fucking SUCK!
Half of them are Hero Shooters/FPS games (Such as: Marvel Rivals, Apex Legends, Valorant, etc.) in which most of them are bloatware and take 20-100 GB of storage (Shit for noobs like me who have like 256 GB of storage) And the other half are Idle games which are usually used to farm those items things so that they can sell them for 2 cents on the marketplace (like that banana game that was the 2nd most played game for a while)

Should’ve gotten HL1 and HL2 when Valve was giving it away. I do sympathize a bit with you thoughie, I miss when free gaming content meant demos that could entertain you enough if you had no other options with the rare exception of a gem like Doritos Crash Course, now a “free” game is just some shitty live service multiplayer thing and tbh I just don’t enjoy multiplayer games
